What I mean to ask is... During the firearm season, do you still think, act, wish you had your bow with you? Sometimes I feel like there is something missing when I don't have my longbow along. Not putting down the other way to hunt. Just LOVE this Trad stuff soooo much it's hard to let go.

COMPOUNDLESS IN CONCRETE

Here in WA, tags are not good for multiple weapon choices.  Once you buy an archery tag, you are limited to hunting with archery tackle.  You can do archery for deer, and gun for elk or vice versa but no going back and forth with the same animal species.  Black bear, cougar, and turkey and other small game are any legal weapon though.

I am committed to hunting with my recurve and that is all I will be using.

We can hunt year round with the bow and arrow so it never gets put down...  :)

About 5-years I think no guns except when I make a duck hunt.Them woodies would be tough with a bow.Kill less deer and hogs but more with my bow than when I was a two season hunter. That is O.K.I am not as mad at them as when I was younger.Kip

I still gun hunt and enjoy it, but its more about just putting meat in the freezer than hunting by that time.

Thankfully we can use a bow through both seasons here in Texas.

Yes,  but only for birds.  I do carry a longbow for that sometimes too.  When I am shotgunning I always want my longbow.  I usually bird hunt with friends so  the shotgun is my only choice at those times.

Mr. mcgroundstalker,
Fortunately, we are allowed to hunt with a bow during the firearm season.  If it is raining too hard, I carry a flintlock.

i took my rifle out one time last year. it was a cold rainy day. i sat in a shooting house and fell asleep.

We can use a bow all season as well.I bowhunt on the good days in later season and gun hunt on the bad ones if I hunt. :)

Started to feel like it was murder to kill anything with a gun, so I don't.  Wolfs excluded.

I'm not putting up with this guys shit and dogging me.

Im not near as mad at those deer as i was when i was young but with the hours i spend in a tree i still like to kill a good buck.

Its almost impossible to kill a 4 year old buck down here in south Al where i hunt and trying to do it with a bow makes it really tuff.

I just took up trad archery last year and hunted mostly with a bow and did manage to kill a good Bama buck.

When those guns start going off the chances of killing a good buck with a bow are very slim and about the only time you might get to see one is during the rut.

The bucks i hunt most all the time move at night fall but we have a great herd so this year i will hunt mostly with a bow, im going to give those does a run for there money.

No issues here.  Different seasons, different weapons, different feeling, different fun.

Mike, you can carry and hunt with the bow during the firearms season.......so you don't have to put it down!!

I hunt pretty much the same way no matter if it is bow or gun.  Both my deer gun kills last year were at under 20 yards.  I was just as happy with them as I would have been with a bow.  Don't matter at all to me.

I borrow a gun to hunt with my Dad in gun deer season. When he isn't hunting I go to my bowhunting areas with my stickbow. I hate lugging a gun and as mentioned above, it feels like murder and gives no thrill.

Unless it states that there is NO BOWHUNTING for that day... I don't hunt... I'm Bow only and have been that way for since 2005.

Very Interesting.......

Sometimes I try to stalking real close, like within 20-25 yards when I carry my (.243 bow) during firearm deer season. THAT gets my heart rate up!

I build traditional flintlocks to hunt with, so during the 10 days of modern shotgun and muzzle loading season in Southern, Illinois I use my .58cal. flintlock. During spring gobbler season I use my .20ga. flintlock.

I don't think you are allowed to use a bow during the gun seasons where I hunt.

I'll be using my recurve from Oct. into Jan.
