I'm just turnin 60 soon and stuff is gettin tougher but last fall I remembered the reason I took all that time teachin boys how to shoot bows and put up deer stands, how to drag deer out of the woods and cut them up. I sure am glad I did that and they seem to be glad too. I'm a very proud dad of two very good men and bowhunters. Family makes the hurts not so bad and I thank God everyday for them!

I turned 50 eight months ago, and subconsciencely what I find myself doing is buying things that will now last me a lifetime rather than cheapo stuff ya usually go through every few years. Things like lawnmowers, weedeaters, treetrimmers, chainsaws and such. Tools and equipment that is suppose to last longer than 20 years, (I'm not doing yard work after 70 though...8^)) Just this past year have bought quality stuff like Gravely, and Stihl. Ten years ago would have never dreamed of paying that kind of money on lawn equipment.

Just the other day I needed a pair of tree pruners, so went to Lowes but rather than price shop and buy a cheap one, I bought the best they had...8^) I'm not buying another one in this life time...8^)

I will also be turning 50 in November and I'm treating myself to a spring bear hunt next June. BTW, I'm 17 days older than you if it makes you feel any younger!

I always saw 40 as a "destination". When the bus blew right on past that stop I thought, "No, wait!!!"... I hit 52 a few weeks ago... I'm not sure what happened.

I guess I hit mid life crisis early, 43 I bought a new Harley road king, firefly bow and an AR-15 to protect them! The wife said that enough toys for now.

Here is a line from a song that I've always liked that may pertain to this, " But don't feel bad...Cause I... never feared consequences, hate regrets more than apologies... "

I remember when I turned 50....that was back in the fall of '93. Waited 8 more years to get my Harley, been to 26 states on her including the all of Route 66 (Illinois  to California). God willing, I'll turn 67 this fall and still enjoy riding and shooting the longbow.

Wait til you hit 60. I just had my 60th on July 28. It is hard for me to imagine myself being 60 but I really don't feel much different. Actually now I could care less about lots of the trivial crap most folks worry about...and that is a good thing!  d;^)
