Sounds like the new string is stretching more, the high number of twists may be allowing the string to elongate when under tension since you measure it shorter but it is longer when on the bow yielding the lower brace. Just order one from Chad, LBR, and he will fix you up with a quality string. Your old string will probably become your backup.

Sorry i didnt answer your question quickly. Been out of pocket. That brace height should be pretty close. I would let LBR make a first class string for it.
Brace will be higher with the short string.

On a side note.
What is the proper way to measure a string?
does one measure to the loops, out to the end of the loops or some other way?

End to end, longes measurement (include the loops).  Technically on 1/4" pins under 100# tension--measured braced on the bow works just fine for me.

For AMO of 60" on a recurve a string length between 55" and 56" should yield a good string height.

What is the maufacturers reccomended string height?  8 7/16" sounds quite deep.

If your hieght is in toelerance and performs well you will have to order strings by the actual length not the AMO.

Also, I have not had as good a performance on deep recurves with flemish twist strings.  I believe the endless loop with both ends seved will perform better.

Flemish twist seem more suited for longbows and self bows.
