Has anyone successfully sharpened a Single Bevel broadhead using a dremel and a grinding stone ?

I have sharpened some old single bevel Grizzly's on a belt sander,worked pretty good.

I used a dremel with the sanding drums to sharpen up some Tuskers once. It works pretty good.

A Dremel with a fairly smooth stone and a light touch works very well for me.  I finish up with a diamond board.  But I went back to regular Swickies.  I suppose all the research and reports on single bevel is correct, but I don't see any difference with my light bow and 2016s.

The sharpener from Alaskan Bowhunting is the ticket.

Great Idea.  I just bought four packs of Zwickey 2 and 4 blade Delta's and the front reinforced section takes a while to get down to "grade" so the KME can make it scream.

I will dremel the pudding out of them to get it close and let the KME ride it "hone"...

yeah, but be careful because if you heat the steel up- which a dremel or belt sander is prone to do- you'll defeat part of the greatness of the head by ruining the temper.

Keep cold water nearby, and use it often to keep the steel from heating up.

That steel is very hard, took a while on the file to get just one where the KME could take it to a razor's edge.

You're much better off using a file to sharpen them so you don't ruin the temper.  But like Ray said if you do use a belt sander make a pass, no more than two, and dip them in cool water.

I use an auto body rasp...takes about 5 minutes per head...

First thing you do is flatten the non-bevel side, because its not FLAT until you do.

Then change your bevel angle.

Then a 14 inch Nicholson files the bevel side, then the other bevel side, then lay the file flat on a table and re-cut the flat side again.

At this point, you'll see the "foil" on the edge of the blade.

Using smooth sided leather mounted to a board with glue, strop the broadhead back and forth, gently, till you see that foil edge peel off like an orange peel and S T O P

She's ready.
