So, here is probably the best looking part of the bow before Joe got after it.  This poor thing had some kind of paint and tape that turned into some nasty tar like substance after baking in my Grandpa's attic for the last 50 years.  I knew it was going to take more time and expertise than I had available!




If I get home from work before dark tomorrow night, I'll get some after pics up.

As far as my avatar, that reminds me of younger days when I could bowhunt all I wanted AND bird hunt all I wanted.  That was Friar Tuck, a very, very good German Shorthair.  I'm sure he will be the best pointer I'll ever own.  Miss my old buddy   :(

Hey Doc Kevin, that's 25 years of "in the field".


I'm bringing this back up cause I was just chatting with DD Quillian, Dan's son. Talking about the freeman rounds on Tuesday nights at the shop. Shooting some of the 1st 3d courses in the south, how young we were and full of ourselves. I was getting all choked up. I'm not usually one to be moved by "things" but what Joe did to my old Longhunter has thrown me back to a day and time I'll always cherish and never forget. They say you can't go back..........but you can  8-)

By far the best part of this bow hospital gig is when I get a chance to work on bows with a history.  To bring them back to as close as possible to what they used to look like is a real treat for me.  Those bows from you two guys are about the most special I have had a chance to work with, and I really enjoyed it.  So glad to hear that you are happy too.

If you keep up the fine work with your bow hospital, you'll never need malpractice insurance.  The refinish job on the Kwyk Styk is great.  And what a difference taking off 5 lbs makes -- it is a pleasure shooting with the lighter weight.
