My buddy went back east to clean out his mothers house . And he found his uncles bow. Called me up and said what he had found . Said I could have it if I paid shipping . Have no clue what make it is . The last time he seen it was forty years ago. Looks like just a production type bow . Still is forty + at 28"and shoots good. I might refinnish it and add some hickory to the back to beef it up a little this bow wants to go chase some meat.

A couple of observations, what I believe to be the lower limb appears to have taken a very small amount of set based on what I can see in the 1st picture.

The brace height needs a little tweaking based on the second photo.

All in all, it looks like a great old Osage/hedge longbow.

I'm having some difficulty seeing the tips clearly but they look as if they've been glued on, maybe some sort of cow horn. Is the small white dot a piece of antler inlaid in the riser as a strike plate?

Is it a selfbow or does it have a backing?
 If it were mine I would enjoy it's beauty and enjoy shooting it as is. To me it would be a shame to add a backing to a perfectly good selfbow. Be sure to exercise it slowly to reeducate it to bend before you shoot it too much. Old dry wood needs to be reeducated before stressing.

Its not a self bow has a glass backing . And Mudd the lower limb has more set.Its not osage Maybe limon wood ? Tips are glude on plastic stuff.It needs some work.Mudd that dot is plastic also.I think its just a old school bow .
