.....That was Cade at 1:30am this morning, driving home after 4+hrs. of night time bowfishing with Terry Receveur(IndianaBowman).....

My response....yes bud, I'm very lucky to have more good friends than any one man should....

The evening before we were bowfishing with Glenbo in his canoe....Cade really digs the whole boat thing...

We had another great time, and Terry tried so, so hard to get Cade on some fish. The night started off real slow and the fish seemed to be deeper than usual in murky water.

But in the end Cade ended up with a lot of shooting and made some really good shots on not easy at all opportunities.

I ended up shooting a couple fish, they were only after Cade either missed or couldn't shoot.

The best opportunity came, of course, after he'd gone to the back of the boat to take a break and have a snack.    :clapper:

It was a really tough night. Cade was a real trooper.  He shot at a lot of suckers and was shaving scales off of them. He is getting to be a really good shot.

Last night was a really fun time watching Curt teach Cade about perserverance and patience. As he said it was really pretty slow. Cade ended up shooting a lot, but much of the shooting was at suckers.  He had a few nice shots on carp and he nailed one right in the center. As Curt said, I think we may have blown that for him.  What was great to see was Curt letting Cade go at his own pace, but reinforcing the fact that you have to be ready at all times to have good success.  Cade had gotten pretty tired and decided to go and sit down and have a drink and a snack. Right after Curt said you really need to be ready for them the carp in the photo below committed suicide. As you can tell from the arrow placement it was pretty much straight down. A perfect opportunity for Cade had he been ready. It didn't take Cade long to jump back up front and then he connected on the carp noted above just around a bend from Curt's fish.

Curt probably only shot 10 times last night and landed at least half of them.   He made a really great shot on a quickly departing sucker. He led it like a champ and impressed me with his shot. Poetry in motion.

Overall it was a fun night and I just guessed wrong on where the fish would be and the tide really hit us at the wrong time.  We saw deer, beaver, eels, catfish, suckers, striped bass, smallmouth bass, an enjoyed a beautiful night.

Cade is a wonderful and well mannered young man. He is more than welcome to share a boat or camp with me anytime.

Curt, great job on spending time with your kids and teaching Cade by a great example.

Stone Knife

   Maybe you should invest in a small boat, I have had a couple over the years and Joe and I have had some of our best times in them, Bowfishing , fishing and swimming or just plain hanging out while floating around. Quality time spent together is worth the money spent.

Curt, I'm not giving up. Just let me know when you and Cade want to give it another try. We can try the flats where we went on Carp AGeddon!

Good stuff once again     I'm sure loving following along on Cade's journey.  Sooner or later it is definately going to happen, and I can't wait to read about it.  When it does, it will be oh so much sweeter for all the effort put into it.

And the lessons Cade is learning now?  Priceless training for the long and bright bowhunting future that boy has ahead of him!

More importantly, Cade's got a great dad who obviously  loves him to death. Curt, it appears you are doing all the right things with him...just keep doing it.
