Mudd

A local farmer left one on the field for me. I haven't gotten over to shoot it yet but maybe tomorrow?

I just had a thrill go though me just thinking about it...lol

Archery isn't something I do, it's who I am!
The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

What would the shipping be on that target.

Lawrence that depends on which tractor ya' use to haul them.

Mudd, you out to come on out before I move them all out of the field...it's great practice to shoot from bale to bale at different ranges and angles like natures 3D course.

That's not a blank bale. I have them here too. Very hard to get a good stalk on. They work for hiding behind and finding whistle pigs though.
Shoot straight and keep the heads keen

Mine has lasted 3 years but I did shoot one side out. It was also the John Deere model so it might have been a little better quality.

Shaun

I shot the end of one ONCE. 20 minutes of digging to get my arrow back. The center of the end (natural place to aim)is particularly soft.

They make great warm targets where I hunt.  One was left for two years, this spring it was missing.  If it does not get replaced I will need to find a new place that has a warm up bale, it helps to have a really big target for the first shots of the day.

Jim Jackson

Shooting at the rounded sides of a round bale, one needs to be careful on those top two spots.  Those bales are dense enough that you can have a skip occur if you miss high.  It will really launch one for sure...not that I am personally talking from experience or anything...!

I shoot bales like that every November at my friends farm.

It's one of my greatest pleasures but...as others have said: shoot only target points, do not shoot into the ends, and make sure that it is a tightly rolled bale before your first shot.

I lost arrows or parts in all of those circumstances at the beginning. Also, if you do lose something, let the farmer know because apparently some of those cows will eat anything.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

BenBow

Be dang careful if you shoot into the ends. Unless they have been rolled extremely tight arrows disappear and you can get hurt bad reaching in to try and find them. Also you don't want to leave them in there as they can mess up the farmer's livestock which ruins your relationship and possibly loose your hunting spot. I was raised on a farm and shot a few into them and dad wasn't happy.
