Finally got around to getting some pics up of last season's success.  Took this guy on Nov.7th 2009 at 4:05p.m. in Pierce Co. Wisconsin.  Used my 54lb. Firefly made by Jim Jones, Beman ICS arrows with 100gr. brass inserts and tipped with a 125gr. Snuffer for a total arrow weight of 585gr.  Slighty quartering away at 12 yards, he went down in 35yards.  Proud that it was the quickest/cleanest kill I've had.  Many thanks to my brother in law Nate Gruber of Wausau, Wi. for the most generous offer of letting me hunt with him on his family's land, it's a jewel that I hope I can revisit.  So enjoy the pics and get fired up for this coming season.

Wausau,

That's where I grew up. Wish I was at Polka fest this past weekend.  Good buck.

Thanks for sharing!

Congrats on a nice buck!!! My newly aquired Firefly fatally bit a bear this spring and I am hoping for similar results this coming fall. Jim sure knows how to put together a beautiful bow that performs great!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

NBK

Eric,
Yeah he knew he was hit.  Snuffer penetrated to off shoulder then stayed in him as he ran off.  They tend to not go far with a snuffer inside still working. Didn't need a blood trail but it provided one pretty good.  If all you did was hunt deer, man... the snuffer to me is the way to go.

What a gorgeous deer. . . great job.
If we're not supposed to eat animals ... how come they're made out of meat? ~anon

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Nice Buck Mike,

One of my Firefly's looks just like your bow.
They are great bows and great shooters.

What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

Great deer and bow brother. Gonna have to try a firefly someday.
