Yesterday, I spent a very relaxing day in Grayling, MI at the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters Jamboree.  It was nice to be able to shoot so much and catch up with some great friends.

I was fortunate to win a Northern Mist Longbow of my choice that was generously donated by Steve Turay!  I would like publicly thank Steve and all of the other vendors/folks who unselfishly donate so many nice items to a great cause.

So, for you Northern Mist Longbow fans...what longbow would you recommend?

I would recommend a Baraga, a smooth drawing, quiet shooting bow 62" or 64" long. The 3 pice takedown Witbeck is even more smoother and what a shooter.

All Steve's bows are winners. I would probably go with a 66" Superior or a 68" Shelton.

I brought home one of Steve's back quivers yesterday, very nice piece.

Hey Bryan
Here's thought.. I'll trade you a bow already made for your wait and bow...lol

Congratulations! I think you'll find it's one that won't get as much bow rack time as a lot of others.

God bless,Mudd

If you want a smooth, quiet bow, go with the whisper with a slight pistol grip.  I have several of Steve's bow and that one is my favorite.

I have a 64" Superior and it is VERY smooth and quiet!!!  Oh and it's pretty darned fast too!
Chasing my kids and my degree for now but come next fall the critters better look out.  ;)

I have a 62" Superior that is the smoothest bow I own. Dished grip 52# @ 29" and just a joy to shoot!

I haven't shot one lately but the Whisper sure looks like a shooter.

Congratulations on winning a fine bow. Steve Turay is a great representative for the traditional community. I have owned Baraga's, a Whisper, a Superior, and I now have a Shelton coming.

My advice to you would be to simply call Steve and discuss what you like in a bow. Maybe he will be attending a shoot near you where you could try some out. They are all fine bows it's just in what you like.

Better yet, go visit the UP and see for yourself.

Yes, the Northern Mist bow raffle was a nail biter but it couldn't of been won by a nicer guy or a bigger fan of traditional bowhunting!  I know you'll enjoy it!

I'd say get something completely different than anything currently on your rack. Have fun with it!

Probably a Baraga in 62 inches, tempered bamboo core, with myrtle veneers, walnut handle with a connexion hinge. Flint

i am trading for a whisper tommorow. hopefully i will get to shoot it alot tommorow and i will tell u what i think.

Congrats Bryan!  I had to leave around 4 and I missed seeing you.  I have shot most of Steve's bows at one time or another and since I am more of a recurve guy the Baraga was my favorite.  It has a bit more of a locator grip.  Every one I have shot has been extremely quiet too.

Eric Westbrook is the best expert on Northern Mist bows. I have owned Baraga, Whisper, classic, shelton, they are all top notch. Talk to Steve with your bow desires and he will guide you congratulations, and good luck Jerry.
