I use the 1/3rd on recurves and 1/4th on longbows most of the time.

BTW...I've never had an issue with a brass nock making a bow noisy.  I use both, depends on what's available at the time....but I've never replaced a tie on with a metal nock and had a noise problem....or replaced a metal nock with a tie on and all of the sudden had a quieter bow.

I guess anything is possible though through isolated incident.

Has anyone tried, or seen, a guy put his silencer at 1/3 on the bottom and 1/4 on top?

I generally eye-ball the distances from the nock that I place the silencers...for some reason I got in the habit of making sure they were a little different from each other so as to try and "catch" two different waves/nodes/frequency... whateverdaheck you wanna call it.

No...and I don't think that would work.

I did shoot a bow  with one silencer before....back in 2003 at Cloverdale....and if my form was off, the arrow missed its mark and the flight was erratic and the bow make an ugly noise.

I think there should be 2, and should be even as to both return back to brace at the same time.

I agree with Terry on this one. I saw a bow that couldn't be tuned, that is until the "bow tip protector" was removed. Then it shot perfect. Timing effects "dynamic" effects of tiller. I don't know if the position of a siliencer will be significant enough to show itself, but I see no reason as to have them off balance on purpose. Generally, if I can't get a bow quiet then I don't want to keep it.

Hate nock sets much prefer tied nocks. Good thread.
