I am headed to Compton and this is my first shoot where I will be shooting.  Also taking a couple bows so need to keep one or two in the truck.  It looks like 90 for a high, and I don't know if I will find parking in the shade.  Also looks like a chance of rain last time I looked so don't know if I want to gap windows.  How do you keep your bows cool so they don't get damaged in the heat other than keeping them out of direct sun in the vehicle?  How hot does it need to be to a concern?

90 degrees in the sun will probably ruin a bow if left in the truck with the windows up. Take a 10' X 10' pop up canopy and park under it. Crack open the windows about 2 to 3 inches and you should not have any problems.

Do you have a small 2 man tent you could pitch in the shade of the truck and put the bows in there?  Safest thing is to take one bow though.

I have a canopy and tent I can take if I can get a spot to set it near the truck.  We are not camping because we are close.  I thought about putting them under the truck on the ground in a case and then a big note on the steering wheel so I don't forget and run them over, but I kind of want to keep them secure if they are just in a parking lot and not in a camp site.

I could put my 3-pc. TD in the cooler.

I would bet that you will be able to find a vendor or camper that would safely hold your bows for you. You'll probably be surprized at how many people are there that you know. Traditional archery makes for a small world.

Get you one of those sun shields that you put in the front window that will reflect the heat. Wal-Mart or any auto parts store should have them. That will dramaitcaly cut down on the heat. Then a couple bath towels with clothes pins for the side windows and leave them down a little.Towels can be put to good use if it rains:>)

Just don't keep the bows in the car strung up!!!
This will probably cause problems.
An unstrung bow never showed problems with me hunting in the colorado desert in a black truck.
I can use that truck as a heat box :-))
When it is very hot in the car, let the bows cool outside for a few minutes before stringing.
A heavy wool bow sock usually will prevent very high heat on the unstrung bow.
There shouldn't be any problems then, unless the bow was put together lousy.

There is NO combination of "Heat and Bow" that's good.  H

I agree with Ground Hunter, but the bow should be OK up to within 30 - 40 degrees of the epoxy cure temperature - epoxy breaks down at approximately the same temperature it was cured.

That being said the 10X10 canopy over the locked truck sounds the most secure.
