About 2 months ago my neighbor called and asked me to come over. His father in-law had passed the previous year and he was cleaning out his basement. He had some archery stough for me to check out. He sold me an old York recurve, a bunch of broadheads and some arrows. While going through the quiver I took out all the wood shafts and it felt heavy. I looked in the quiver at the bottom and there was an old Western L-39 knife. I always liked old hunting knifes. It was all rusted and the leather washers were rotted away but I cleaned it up as best I could. I posted an ad here on Trad Gang for a knife rebuild and Sam Koger answered me. I shipped it to Sam and put on a wonderfull Curly Mayple handle. The old bowhunter will still be hunting this season this coming season. Somthing special about an older knife. I whish I could here its stories. Thanks Sam for the service and the great job. When I pass someday I hope all my stough will be used by other hunters instead of being wasted. Dan

Nice I love old stuff that can be refurbished and used to it's potential.Good on you for taking time to restore it.

I have a knife that was found by a logger friend of mine in the Adirondacks. I put  deer horn handle on it and it's really kinda nice. Hope to get a chance to use soon.

Guys I will be doing another giveaway soon, right after the winner of this service for St. Judes gets his refurbished. I appreciate the post Dan, I am glad you like the knife, wife said it was some of the nicest handles I had put on one, then wondered why her hunting knife wasnt that purty! I had asked Dan if he was pleased with his knife to post, some members stil think this is gimmick or worry about getting their knives back. No worries to that, I can gurantee.

Environmentalism at it's finest.

Why buy new when you can refurbish, reuse and have something unique..and keep it out of the landfill.

Would like to see pics, too.

There's lots of life left in the old stuff. Hate to see nice equipment sit idle. Good mojo and good memories exist in that knife I bet. Use it and add your own Mojo to it. Nice get.
