I'm having a hard time deciding to go with 50 or 55 pound limbs on my Black Onyx riser.  I'm using the TT BlackMax carbon/woods and i'm going to use them for elk this fall.  My question is, does anyone have any real world draw weight numbers with these limbs on the Onyx or Recon risers?  I've heard that they gain a couple of pounds on the 15" riser but then I've also heard as much as 5#'s.  Appreciate it.

I have a Black Onyx with long BlackMax carbon/wood limbs. The limbs are marked #40 62" so they should be #42 on the 15" riser but mine scale out at #44 with the bolts out 3 full turns. I absolutely love this limb/riser set up, it's very smooth.

Hope this helps.

I have one with medium limbs. They tell you you should gain 2 pounds from what is marked on the limbs. That is one pound for every inch shorter than the 17" riser. Since the black onyx is 15 inches you should gain 2 pounds.  I checked mine last night and I am backed out 2 3/4 turns. At the archery shop mine scaled 50# @ 28 inches. I will be willing to bet that it is because my limbs are just a little heavier than the 45lbs they are marked. I bet you will get a few pounds variance if you checked several limbs of the same weight. In choosing your limb I would just consider that the 50# limb should be 52# and the 55# limb should be 57# on the black onyx riser if the limb is exactly the weight stated.
