Doc - you have me noted correctly.

I've sent the funds for my "shares" via PayPal.

We may have lost the cakes, but the kids are the real winners!!!!

Great idea Jeff     I pledge my share to Duckbutt  :clapper:   I'm guessing he'll be receiving a few marching orders from little D when the baking begins.  ;)

Have a great trip Tippit! Hope you kill a big 'un and have a good time   :campfire:

Oh yea, I want a chance at the knive please. I got my eye on a giant whitetail here that needs to be dressed with something special   :archer:

While I really do appreciate the gesture, I don't think Little D drawing MY name at MY house would be very above board.  I'll have to earn a tippit blade another way.

Now, if Whip wants to lend me his golden horeshoe..........I'd take it off his hands real quick like.   :saywhat:

Whip

Ok, tell you what.  Just leave my name in the hat.  If it ends up being the winner I just want little D to pick another name from the pot.  Give every MK shareholder a second chance drawing so to speak.

Slim chance of me being picked though - I save my golden horseshoe for drawing hunt tags  ;)

I paid $225 in the auction for 3 chances to win the knife, but if I actually win I will pay an additional $775 to St. Jude for the privilege of getting one of Jeff's knives in the St. Jude auction. There is no way I am going to short change the children. I would like to challenge anyone else who wins the knife to do the same so that the winner pays $1000 for the knife. We really aren't here to be "lucky" and get the knife for a fraction of what we would otherwise have to pay for it. We are already lucky because we are not kids who are dying of cancer. Being a cancer survivor (so far) myself, I know a little about what these kids are going through. They need all the help they can get. I'm not trying to change the rules here, just making a suggestion that I hope may challenge others to dig even deeper than you already have if you benefit from the luck of the draw. Right this moment I am sitting in the exam room at MD Anderson Cancer Center waiting for the doctor to come in and hopefully give me a good report, so I am even more mindful of the plight of the children at St. Jude.

God bless,

That is a wonderful gesture Allan, and very generous on your part.  There may be others here though that just couldn't afford to pony up that kind of cash for a knife.  One of the things we tried to do with MK, LLC when it was originally conceived is to keep it within reach financially for a large group of people.

I'm pretty sure there are some people here who had to dig pretty deep to come up with the $100 needed to play.  It may have hurt their personal family or hunting budget worse to give the $100 than a larger sum might have hurt someone else.  Personally, I'd like to see them have a chance at a knife that they no way in the world could otherwise afford, and without any pressure to come up with far more than their initial pledge if they were to get lucky.

This really doesn't affect me personally because if my name is drawn I have asked that a second name be drawn that will receive the knife.

Again, thank you for the very generous offer.  I hope your name wins the knife!

Also, I hope your doctor has great news for you today!

Whip,

I only want to challenge those who can afford to do it, not put pressure on those who can't. I agree with everything you said, and I am most impressed by those who had to really sacrifice to come up with the $100! This is a great bunch of people, and everyone who has participated has done a wonderful thing.
