Well guys, I could sure use some help. I've been searching on here and looking at bows to get some ideas for woods on a new Lost Creek. Chad really likes Tamo Ash but I'm not so sure. It's beutiful, don't get me wrong, but I don't much like the 3D look of it. I like grainy, busy wood, but that's a bit too much I think. I haven't seen anything that really blows me away yet. I'm having a hard time with the limbs. I'd really like a grainy wood in the riser. Seems like a lot of woods that look good in a riser, don't exactly look good on limbs. Something like Bocote. But then I don't know what to go with in the limbs, what do you guys think? Pics would be helpful.

Chad did a bow that was all Bocote that was pretty sweet. But maybe TOO busy? Maybe in Zebrawood... Those are the two that I keep coming back too. How would a Zebrawood riser look with Bocote limbs? This is tough...

I hate to sound like a broken record, seems everyone asks about bow woods. But I've really done a ton of searches.

Thanks for your time and putting up with another wood question...      :saywhat:

I was thinking about colored glass but I changed my mind.     :knothead:    Figured why not spend the cash on something fancy.

I am by far not a wood guru,I know very little about those decorative woods. But I like the look of Magnolia when it's stained and I like snake skins any any limbs.Good luck with your quest.

COLongbow, I actually really like that combination. I've been lookin at it. Looks great with the gray, think it would look good with the Ebony too... Hmmmmm...... Decisions, decisions...

K. Mogensen

Whoa, just found some pics. I think I decided. I like the bows KuntuckyTJ has in here.

Think I'll go with something similar, Bocote limbs, Cocobolo riser with a Charcoal Saddle.

What do you guys think? I think I've found THE combo. I'm about to cry...   :jumper:

I'm making the call tomorrow!

cahaba

I love the lines in Madagascar Ebony and choose it for risers and overlays. Zebra or tigerstripe myrtle are hard to beat for limb veneers. So many great choices and you can't go wrong with most.

I got one more quick question...

Do you guys think that a bow with Bocote limbs, and a Cocobolo and Graystained Birdseye or Curly Maple Riser would look good? Or would it be too many colors? I like the sound of it but this is my first custom so I don't know.

Thanks!

K. Mogensen

Kenny, kenny, kenny...  "[dntthnk]"  I've never seen Zebra wood like that, is it flat cut or something?

kennym

That is flat cut from a 2x board with a big sweeping grain in it!

A lucky score on a nice board, just bought 2 more boards just about like it. Maybe Marty (Apex)will have some pics soon, just sent him 2 pair of the new stuff!
Stay sharp, Kenny.
