I'm having some trouble getting all my tips to be the same weight up front.  140 grn field tips, 125 grn judo's (couldn't find heavier where I was at), and haven't gotten broadheads yet.  That being said, I know I need to keep the same weight best as I can so the spine, etc all stays the same.

So, how do I do it?  I saw someone once mention weight washers?  I have some 5575's and some fatter aluminums.  Do they come in the different outside diameters?  Don't suppose I'd be lucky enough to find proper diameter ones at the hardware store for nice and cheap...?

What about you guys shooting really heavy broadheads (200+ grn)?  Haven't seen field tips anywhere near that.  Am I not looking in the right places?

Oh, and this is all in reference to screw-in tips.  Thanks for the help.

3Rivers and KustomKing both carry 200+ gr. field tips as well as some others.  I use adapters with glue-on judos' to get them the same weight as my b-heads and field points but I'm shooting 175gr. heads right now so it's a little easier to get the correct weight by adding the 42gr. adapter to the head.

Thanks for the info, guys-found a good variety of possibilities.  I must admit, some are a bit confusing as to their proper use, but there are enough others that seem dummy proof for me   .

They could vary 15-20 grains in weight, and 99% of us wouldn't be able to tell.

Instead of the judos, try hex heads or hammers in the same weight as your field points.

I will probably take a little heat for this but I think grain weight is a bit overated when within 100 grains or so.  A hunting weight bow shooting hunting weight arrows within hunting distances(20yards and in) I find is way more accurate than my ability and I am much better served trying to perfect my release than worrying about a few grains out front.  If I am shooting well as far a mechanics are concerned meaning my anchor and release are consistant I could shoot 10 different arrow and tip combinations and get good(10") groups at 20 yards.  If I am shooting poorly I could be set up with Olympic class arrows and not get 2 of the 10 in the plate.  

Work on your form and the results will follow.

I have melted lead fishing weights into the tip of points to get some weight.

I tend to agree, that my talent isn't as good as the equipment.  So a few grains doesn't make that much difference to me.  Having said that if you are really interested in matching things up, wait til you go to one of the larger summer shoots where there is a good vender turn out and get what you need all at once.  Cost you a bundle but you'll be matched.  Can't hurt.

I'm with Bobby Urban on this. I think that some of this obsession with the tweaking is a holdover from some folks compound days where everything HAD to be just so. A lot of Indians killed a lot of animals with grain weights that didn't match.  

I shoot 190gr up front with field tips and broadheads. my stumping judos are put on with 57gr adapters for wood arrows which gives me 182gr on them I also shoot some stumping arrows that vary as much as 50gr more or less.

I agree with the guys that say focus on form and mechanics of the shot. Don't get me wrong you need to have a good setup but 50 grains give or take is not gonna make that much difference.

Goldtip has nice weights that screw into the insert from the rear.  I am using these as I have the same issue with Judo points being 125 and wanting to shoot a heavier head.  Check out the GoldTip website for more info.

I shoot 200gs up front on my 55/75 gold tips with 50gr brass inserts. This was the only combination that flew perfectly, if I went lighter or heavier the flight was off and arrows were kicking. When shooting carbons I've noticed that the point weight cannot deviate much from the ideal weight otherwise poor arrow.

15gns is nothing to worry about if your bow is tuned to the middle of the spine range it will shoot.While it might make a difference shooting 60 arrows on a 300 round it should effect nothing for our typical shooting.I shoot 125gn points for 3d and use 175gn broadheads for hunting without having to change a thing.Even 50gns don't matter for 30 and under hunting shots.jmo

I buy glue on Judo's and steel adapters. The nose of the adapter is hollow, if you need a little more weight just add a couple of drops of solder till you come up with the weight you want. You can get points and adapters from 3rivers.
