Ok, so I like brightly colored feathers and arrow-wraps!! So what do you guys use for a fletching cover?? Is it waterproof?? Who sells them??
Thanks!!

I think that G. Fred Asbell has some on his hunter's image site that you may want to check out.  I think that they'll work for what you want.

BobW

Check and see if Safari-Tuff is still carrying them.  Terry had colaborated with Rod on an outstanding one back a bit ago.

I made my own out of some bungi cord and an old asat bandana...made 2 out of one hanky!

I cut up a USMC-issued Woodland Camo jacket and made one.  A couple of rubber bands to hold it on and I'm in business.

I got one from 3rivers. Its waterproof, camo and seems to work good in the rain so far.

hunters image fletching cover is what its called in their magazine or online.

The hunters image was too noisy for spot and stalk when not raining for me.  I think it is great for keeping in the pack for rain, but for concealing the high-viz feathers and wraps I am going to make one out of an old camo shirt.
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Unless you're hunting turkeys, don't worry about it. I shoot bright pink fletches on a bright pink wrap with no concern at all.
I've tried fletch covers & the only thing I've discovered is that;

a) they're noisy when you shoot

b) they make getting a quicksecond arrow almost impossible

c) the extra weight sucks

& d) it's something else to catch & snag on the brush

Even bright pink feathers look grey to a deer   ;)

Nothing...haven't had any deer spook yet seeing all those bright colors in my backquiver or bowquiver.

Only when it rains and I have a bowquiver, I use a Kelly Fletch Cover.

I shoot the bright flo-yellow,I dont use a cover and never had a problem.I think covers just get in the way.Just my 2 cents.

I've been spotted a few times using the chartreuse feathers but the long island deer are about the smartest out there. The chartruese color tends to glow right when it is getting dark so I bought the cover from 3Rivers and that has worked great. I always keep on arrow out of the cover in case I need a quick second shot and since it is loose not all of that feather is showing.

Rob...maybe you got the wrong kind....seriously....I use fletch covers all the time...let me explain...

Mine is not noisy when I shoot....I have it arranged with the arrows in a certian way so its stable...and I 'pull from the middle' till I have to pull from the outside.

Getting a second arrow out is a cinch IF the bottom is not closed.  I can't tell you how many times I've gotten a 2nd arrow out...but its never been a problem....not once.

I can't tell by feel if mine is on the quiver or not via extra weight.

YES!...I have had mine snag...no getting around that....but I can't find a quiver that wont snag on something!!!            :banghead:

Terry, can you share what kind you use or did you make it?

Bob Morrison use to sell a great one....and once his supplier went AWAL....I got Rod at Safari to make them to those specs.

Rod's (like Bob's) has a 'hoop' top and bottom...and that helps a lot.

I have one made from an old plaid shirt. It has an elastic band around the bottom and can be cinched closed or left open.
I think the coolest (and cheapest) one I ever saw was in the old Primitive Archer magazine. The guy featured in the story made his out of baby bottle liners with rubber bands around the bottom!

Never worried about the Colors. For rain I just use a small platic bag and an elastic band.Cost nil.

Terry, just checked Rod's website and I can't find one listed. I'll be in La Tuque with "Bonecracker" in a couple of weeks and I'm in the market for one to.
