Thoughts on Zwickey Deltas....

Last 4 deeer - one w/Zwickey
one w/ribteck
one w/old bear razor (sans razor insert)
one w/H. Hill

No problem with any head. Hill was hardest to sharpen, but worked well. Confident with 2 blade heads. Think penetration is best.

Just a curious question: What makes the Zwickey better than say a Magnus?

I shot a 220 field dressed buck using a 60 super Kodiak, 2018 with a two blade Delta. About 28 to 30 yards on a fast walk. The uphill shot took the arrow into some branches passed the deer after the arrow went through front center lungs. The deer ran about 45 yards and did a sliding nose dive when it went down, then the arrow fell out of the branches. The diference between the Magnus and the Delta is not much. The Delta is easier to sharpen with a file and flies a little better in the wind. The Magnus can be had in a 160 grain as well. I have shot a number of deer with both, they both work about the same unless it is a high cross wind situation.

I'd say, little or no difference in the two blade variety. The Magnus 4 blade has a removable bleeder, where the Zwickey is integral with the blade.

Zwickeys have been around longer than Magnus, so more guys have either used them or talked to the old-timers who have.

I know they go through deer and turkeys so fast you'd best not blink. I've used heads that gave better blood trails, but penetration is never going to be a issue with a Delta two blade.

This was with my 46# Kanati at 22 yards.

The buck fell in sight of my arrow...about 90 steps. That's the exit hole showing.

I really like the Zwickey eskimo for a 125 grain 2 blade for my 45 lb recurve. Flys straight, sharpens scary sharp and gives great penetration. Last 2 deer I killed were with that head, complete pass throughs on two big old angle headed does. Neither went more than 40 yards. This might be sacrilege but I probably will hunt with them over my 3 blade Woodsmans, 'cause I think they are less likely to bend at the tip and are easier to put a very sharp edge on them. And, I LIKE woodsman heads.

Please elaborate on putting lead in them. Do you "just" melt and pour it into the Z? I would like a little more weight, and that is why I keep trying different heads. The Zwickey Delta is the best thing since sliced bread.

Penetraition has never been a problem with Zwickeys....even the 4 blades.

Yeah...both these had 4 blade exit holes....

2 blade Delta is all I've used, been shooting the old style double bevel, but I am going to try out some single bevels this fall.

I've killed more game with the Zwickey delta than any other broadhead. Probably about 10 or 12 elk. I still try other heads but they are my favorite head so far. I just sharpened up some Tusker concordes single bevels I'm going to try this year but Zwickeys will also be in my quiver. Gary

love deltas.....hard to beat! i bet they are responsible for more kills than any other! I really like the eskimos as well.

love the product as many have stated easy to use cut great i even shot my first black bear clean throught shoulder plate and pick up delta off the ground went home and reused as if never used before like new excellent product and priced nice. "out" LjT

Its my broadhead of choice, high quality and easy to sharpen and they fly great.
