Glue on Broadheads

I usually use hot melt stick and a torch for my glue on broadheads. It's a pain in the butt and I really don't care for putting that much heat to the steel. What do you guys use that gets a good quick bond and with very little heat that can be repositioned or removed?

I use the gas stove in my kitchen and when i put the head on I spin it point down on the cutting board like I was trying to light a fire.Check out the video on 3R website.

Ya know.... You could just not put them in the torch flame as long. You still have to get them hot enough whether you do it slow or fast. I'm not trying to be a smart you know what..

I don't like to use candles and such as the soot weakens the bond.

With ferrel-lite or glue sticks...

I use a metal cap from an old hoppe's #9 bottle and just fill it with Methanol. Light it with a lighter.
It burns clean. The flame is about the right size.
Burns long enough to do 6 or so heads/points. When the methanol is gone it goes out.

Just don't add more methanol when it's burning.
And don't do it where if you spill you'll start a fire. It's not the safest way I know. I do it on a steel table over a concrete floor and keep myself out of the way of spills.

Thinking more in the line of epoxy and getting away fron the heat and ferrel-tite.

I just use a regular candle,never had a bit of trouble. You could try some of the new 2-part epoxy but in some cases you better be quick!!

Epoxy works very well, but you should consider it permanent, and make sure your alignment is perfect before it sets. I prefer the slow set with at least a one hour work time.

Boiling water is enuf to soften the hot melt, so there is no need to get the steel hot enuf to damage the temper or heat treat. The flame from an alcohol burner is perfect for broadheads: small, clean and plenty hot.

i just use gorilla glue, its great! but alittle goes along way! i have tryied hot melt stick and i went back to my gorilla glue! AND U CAN HEAT UP LIKE ANYTHING ELSE AND TAKE OFF THE HEAD!

I've been using super glue. You have to be a little quick and it will come off with heat. I hadn't thought of gorilla glue, might give it a try.

candles makes about the right temp, but like it was said before keep the inside of ferrule away from the flame. You don't want the black stuff in there. Getting the black stuff over everything else is bad enough.

I use a 12 minute epoxy for all my tips, fieldpoint and broadheads.
Plenty of working time to adjust whatever needs to be adjusted and no hot flame to worry about.
If I need to change or remove the points down the road a little bit of heat will break the bond with no problem.

Alcohol lamp works great--no smoke or soot and the heat seems just right to not overdo it.
