a couple of my go to bows are having some work done right now and i am thinking of using an older Bear Kodiak #45@28. i have have some carbons and 145 grain 3 blade that are shooting good out of it HOWEVER i can help but feel it will not have enough punch to lay down a gobbler. i know its all in shot placement but i'm just not to sure this would have enough to anchor them. in the future i will definitly find the right arrow/broadhead combo to get where i need but for now the carbons/snuffer's are flying good. what do ya think?

Heck yeah. I just blew through one with a 46# Centaur. I like the lower poundage bows anyway for turkeys as they are usually close and you may have to hold your draw on them if something happens.

yes it is nice to be able to hold the #45 at extended period compared to my #60's. i have a Martin ML 14 that i REALLY want to use but at 68 inches i have to cant it a little more when kneeling so was thinking of using the Bear, not real sure yet.

Maybe not a moose or a really big pig but I have to imagine anything else in North America can be taken with 45# bow in the hands of a good archer.

If I thought you were going to question that old Bear I would have bought it out from under ya!!!!! Of course it can kill a turkey, you just gotta drop the hammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :banghead:

Yes that is plenty of bow for a turkey..
Go get them!!
I'd rather hold a recurve than shoot a compound

acadian archer

You must have BIG turkeys down there. LOl I took a 300#PLUS  bruin with a 41# RECURVE.

Have fun, shoot straight and don't worry.

LOL Ron!!!! no i don't question the bow what so ever, just wish i had more time to work up a better arrow/broadhead combo. i plan on using it alot this year hunting, DIDN't plan on using it this quick as it is pressed in to action! NO it will never be sold again, to much mojo and i have a couple bows that mean a whole lot to me, this is one of them.

Shoot them in the head.If you miss you don't hurt anything and if you hit them they don't fly off.Don't have to worry about your arrows bouncing back at you with light weight bows either.   ;)
....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....

Try some of them Guillotine style broadheads.
Look like the best way to get them quickly!

i hunt some preety thick ridges, not sure a Guillotine would be good there. lots of turkeys, big woods, NO fields.

acadian archer, was that a black bear?  It takes a special kind of courage to go after a 300# Grizzly with a 41# recurve.
