Has anyone purchased or tried Cabela's bite proof base layer clothing? It is suppose to repel chiggers, ticks and and nats while wicking moisture away. Thought I would check before dropping the bucks. Seems like there are more ticks in Pa. every season. Thanks in advance! Jon

got my attention, too ... heck, guess it's worth a try.

I used it last fall and this spring turkey hunting... I had a buddy that passed away last year that swore by them... said he hadn't had a tick since he started wearing it... so I got some for my birthday...

It's a lot like Under Armour with tight cuffs on the sleeves and around the ankles... I guess that keeps them from crawling up and on you... so far so good... no ticks or chiggars when wearing... knock on wood!!!!

I only have the top and bottom...  It does fit tight... ha!

Used them this spring for turkey hunting, along with a BuzzOff neckerchief, Buzzoff socks, and Deet bug spray...I don't like ticks.  The combo worked great.

I've had mine a couple of seasons and I love mine. When it's hot out its like wearing an air conditioner. It also did a good job of keeping off the critters.

I will look into it buying a set for hunting eastern Washington.  Ticks and other bugs are not as much of a problem out west.  The east side of the state has a few deer ticks. No Chiggers this side of the rockies.  Thank you JESUS!  I got into those in Missouri one time and never want to see them again.

I think you guys have me sold on this. Oh and the chigger bites on my waist that are itching me right now are also helping

So do you have to treat these things or are they just tight so bugs/ticks/chiggers can get at you...what about your neck and hands?

Heading down south soon...looks like a good idea, but do you have to treat them with Permanone or permithrin

I've never sprayed mine. I guess you could but you'd better not spray them while wearing them. If I were going to spray them, I'd spray them while off, then allow them to dry before putting them on.

Having said that I WILL NOT spray mine ever, there's no way I want that bug killer sitting on my skin. I've had my share of herbicides and pesticides(including agent orange)

You may read other opinions and that's great but this one's mine...lol

Thanks guys! My order is in this morning! Imagine, Pa. longbeards without ticks! Maybe, I should of ordered the hood too. Thanks again! Jon

Jon Shade

Hey guys! They are currently on sale on Cabelas web site. Save $20! Jon

Jerry Wald

Just my luck I bought mine the other night.... :(

I would suggest you buy the hood to go along with the top and bottom.  While turkey hunting i have had ticks crawl off the hood and on to my face looking to find flesh.  This spring i wear camo cotton over the bug skins.  I tuck my pants into my pull on boots and then duct tape the tops of my boots to my pants.  No tick bites while using this method.  Also as a final i strip when i am finished hunting, bag the clothes and put on new clothes for the ride home.  Stops carrying ticks into the house or work.
