Aluminum footings on the business end of carbon arrows have proven to significantly increase strength as well as add weight when fine tuning arrows.

I have found that a weak spot is the threaded shank of the broadhead adapter.  
Jesse Peltan suggested extending the footing to cover the pivoting point of the weak spot.  I thought that was a clever idea and below is an attempt to do just that.

It seems to also serve as a much more seamless transition which should help with penetration in animals and targets.


This is a picture of the footing extended 1/2" beyond the 100 gr. brass insert.

       


This is a picture of the 200 gr. adapter that extends 1/2" behind the broadhead.

Awesome!  Man that should be a lot stronger.  I think it looks better too.  Glad to hear of the penetration increase.  I'll e-mail you some pictures of another idea I have.  Good luck on your testing.

A brass casing of a .350ish caliber rifle would be ideal for strength but the weight may be an issue.
The 2317 will not be bomb proof but I agree with you..I think it will be stronger.  Thanks for the thought.

I like the idea of using a FP instead of a BH Adapter nice way of Adding that extra weight right to the front of the arrow.
Stick a tapered Hardwood internal footing behind all of that and you'v really got a serious Arrow.
Would make it even stronger if you where willing to Epoxy it all in there threads and everything.

and then what are the 2 sizes of Aluminum Arrow
you'v used for the footing?

Also what Glue have you found to be the best for the footing?

Yes I thought that as well about using expoxy throughout that setup.  It really would be strong but I just never like the "permanent" aspect.  I use hot melt on everything but fletching.  

The arrow is a GT Ultralight Entrada 300. The inner footing is a 2117.  The outer is a 2317.

The extra 1/2" of the "FP" adapter allows me to cut the arrow up to 1/2" shorter than normal and still have the same draw clearance.
That makes stiffer arrow and allows for much higher FOC.
