I want to start shooting wood arrows and need advice on choosing the proper spine arrow for my longbow.I am shooting a tomahawk diamond series longbow that is #50 at my 26" draw length.I want to shoot a 27" arrow with a 125 grain point/broadhead.The longbow does have a fastflight string.All advise is greatly appreciated,thanks.

Google Stu Millers spine calculator and put the bow info in and you should get a good starting point.I would say 50-55# at that draw.IMO

According to Dale Karch, the Tomahawks are normally cut to be 1/8 inch out from center.  They are a pretty snappy bow and with the hard string and a 125 gr point, I would recommend a 50-54 lb spine.  You may do fine with a 45-49, but I think you would be marginal there.  As with most things, it is easier to deal with a little extra spine, than not enough.

If you get 50 to 55 pound spined shafts like others have posted and you cut them down to your desired 27 inch arrow length you are going to be over spined if your draw is 26 and you are using 125 grn points. I could be wrong though, it just seems stiff if your bow is 50# @ 26" and your draw is 26" it's almost a no brainer. I am quite sure if you get 50 to 55 spine shafts and cut them down to 27 your going to need to get some heavy points because your shafts will be in the 70# spine area.

If the bow is not cut to center, then I would go with 45-50. You might even be able to shoot 40-45.

I have two LBs, one is 60#@27" and the other is 64#@28". They both like 55-60. Or maybe it's just me.

Also one likes 11/32, and the other likes 23/64.

Poison, the static spine of the shaft will be the same whether it is 27" or 32".  The trick is matching the static spine of the arrow to the dynamic spine that the bow needs.  My favorite way to do this is with test arrows and paper tuning.  Hopefully, the spine charts will get us close for the start.

Hi, for my 45# PL3, according to my 29,5 draw, I use 11/32 arrows, 55/60# spine with 125gr points....
