My buddy Cobweb came over today and we gave the Mohawk and a few other bows a good workout today.

i have a custom moab, and more than a few mohawks.

they are very different bows.

the moab is an aggressive r/d hybrid longbow that's closer to a recurve in terms of feel and performance, and the braced bow limbs are not "D" shaped (as expected).  they are FAST.

mohawks are mild r/d longbows with that classic braced "D" limb shape.  not as fast as a moab, but imo they are more stable and offer good "pointability".

just took receipt of the first 'official' mohawk classic today ... review with pics tomorrow.

Rob, I know there's real different in the way they look both strung and unstrung but Kenny and I switched back and forth between the two bows for the majority of the afternoon.
The MOAB is 62' 54@28, the Mohawk is 62" 52@28. I found arrow speed to be about the same. Both pulled smoothly. I might have felt the MOAB a little more in the hand upon release but not hardly a noticeable difference. Neither bow felt like a recurve. Both hit right where we were pointing.
Kenny and I were in agreement that there wasn't enough difference in performance or "feel" to make us either pick one over the other as superior.

That's my experience and now opinion(limited to two days) with the Mohawk.

I would encourage anyone who was trying to decide on either of these bows or any bow for that matter.. to if at all possible shoot one 1st before making a major investment.

that's what's best about trad gang - we can all share our perhaps differing thoughts and opinions on stuff and not take it personal or get into a squabble or escalate to something worse.  

gotta love the gang!  

fwiw, my moab is 1pc, 60", 52.5# @ 29", as compared to my 2pc, 62", 55.1# @ 29" mohawk.  

to me, these bows are like night and day, with the moab like a little hot rod speedster firecracker that's not at all so forgiving ... and the mohawk like a solid, stable, very forgiving oak tree.  

arrows used for my comparing are 29.5" beman 500, 4" 4-fletch offset banana fletching, with a total weight of 535gr for the moab and 570gr for the mohawk - mass differences achieved solely by changing the upfront weight, foc varied from 25.2% to 27.6%

My guess would be.. stupidity has struck... again!

I was bored last evening so I found something to do rather than work on fixing arrows. I decided to clean up old photos on the camera and all of our photo accounts. I went through both and delete a ton of old photos.

What was I thinking? I didn't realize that removing them from my albums would affect pictures posted on any webpages.

Oh well... it's a was now! I guess it's just like my dad always said "There ain't no point in being ignorant iffen you don't show it!"

I apologize for the mistake, it won't happen again. I'm sorry, please forgive me.

I wonder how long I'll have to wait for one of the new classics in my weight and length to show up in the classifieds so I can trade for one.Since I've never had much luck getting a bowyer to trade bows with me...lol

Rob has number "1" and I want one just like it but with a straight grip.

I guess it doesn't hurt to want...  now that's not exactly the truth now is it?...lol

Mr. Mohawk,(Vince) I am impressed with your bow that Tom so graciously has allowed me to shoot. I know he has to be one heck of a guy because he's never met me and he voluntarily sent me his Mohawk to try. I was thinking that he's a believer and now the bow has made me one too.

Roy L "Mudd" Williams, my mother said she intended for part of my name to be "Patience" but my dad wanted Leroy in there.. I thank God routinely that the mid-wife who delivered me couldn't spell Leroy so She just put an "L" there and called it good enough.

I guess it could be different if they would just start taking payments from me and ship me the bow once it was paid for. Then they could schedule its' "build" so it would finish up about the time the last payment came in. Always thinking!...lol
