Friends call me Pac

This is my buddy Jonathon.  He is a rookie but is starting to get the hang of bowfishing.

Today I had him run the trolling motor but we passed by too many carp. Had to fire him from the job for the rest of the afternoon.

I took over the trolling motor and spotted a carp in the shallows. The conversation in the next few seconds went something like this.

"You see him?"
"Uhh-unn."
"He's right there."
Where?"
"Right there between those two bushes."
"I don't... hey I see him!"

The arrow flys and soon he wrestles his carp into the boat.

You did good rookie.   :clapper:   We'll work on trolling motor techniques next and soon you'll be a fish shooting machine.

He will figure it out soon enough with the motor and the spotting. Another 1 hooked!!

Good on you Duane! You've added another member to the "Impale a Scale" club.

I've never seen a line holder that huge. Is it something homemade? How well do they work compared to...I have an old green Bear hand wind style. Mine is a pain in the rear to use so it now gathers dust and I use an 808.

Thanks for sharing! Go easy on the lad as he seems to be fairly smart. I mean he got you to run the trolliing motor so he could fish...lol

God bless,Mudd

Mudd that wind on reel is made from the rim of a 5 gal bucket.  It is a shoot through design.  I found the instructions of how to make it right here on TG last summer.  I believe I put "Bucket reel" or "shoot through reel" in the search to get the instructions.

It works about the same as the Bear wind on.  They are both slow but this kind is free and I enjoyed making it.

I kidded Jonathon about his boat handling.  I told him if a snake follwed his course it would break it's back.

That rookie is a smart one! Can't run the boat so he gets to shoot

When he gets the shooting and motor running down.....go at night and make him hold the light too.  :help:    Just kidding, keep up the good shooting.
