Checked out the site and like the idea of the bow blank. Anybody have any comments on the finished product from these?

I have a blank, but have yet to work on it.  I think Stan Mercer has done a few.  He's supposed to be at our club meeting tomorrow night.

I have completed four Dryad bow blanks.

All have been good, solid performers.

Can;t find fault with these blanks, and I am thinking about another, this time the wood laminate one, though. All the others have been the glass backed bow blanks

I finished one, good solid bow, Izzy here on the site bought it from me and has killed a bunch of Carp with it. Good bows............fun to work on your own also!

If we are talking about the all wood blank I found them to be as good as it gets; follow the DVD closely and you can make a bow to be proud of-no experience with the glass blanks.

Finished one about three weeks ago. Cocobolo riser with dirty boo limbs,62",55# @ 28". Am very pleased with the outcome.

I've built two of them. The first one I got over zealous in tillering and ended up with a 30# bow, but that's okay, I learned.  The second one turned out fine and I'd recommend these blanks to anyone. Definitely watch the video.

I was talking about the glass ones but i'm interested in the other one too. I've made a glass recurve and several board bows but like the design of the blank and the price is good for a almost done bow. thanks for the input.

Okie, I intended to finish mine at 53# @28", but when I got it to 55#, with the tiller the way I wanted it, I couldn't help but notice it was faster than another of my 55# bows as well as my 57# bow, all with arrows at 10gr./lb.. So, I decided to leave well enough alone.

I'm sure I could ask the guys at dryad but does the bamboo core improve performance over the maple or just a preference thing?

Hey Russ, you can't go wrong when dealing with Mike Westvang.  He made a number of osage/boo blanks for my archery class a few years ago before we went to doing glass bows.  Incredible guy to work with.  Very knowledgeable and spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me answering questions.  I highly recommend them.  See you tomorrow if you make the meeting.

Russ,

Thanks for the interest in our Windtalker glass blank.  We have a bunch of customers out there that have finished them so you should get some more input today.

The bamboo is the only performance upgrade we offer.  It makes the bow smoother and about 8 fps faster.

Same here........except mine was a bamboo backed longbow that was supposed to be #60 and came out at about #45 due to my over zealous tillering.

Yep the bamboo backed can be challenging if you get hungup tillering and don't watch your weight.

Even though I engineer them 10# heavy.  LOL

The Glass bows are much easier.

Thanks Mike. I'll be getting in touch with you in a while. Been laid up with an achilles surgery so I have to get back to work before I can spend more money. Looks like a good setup though.

The one I finished and sold to Izzy was a Glass Windtalker.

My son and I completed a glass Windtalker after Christmas. Absolute highest recommendation possible.

Also glad i took their advise and tried Deft to finish- no more Minwax for me...

FlintRiverKen

Looks like handle mod since we built ours- I beam riser.

Is it just me or is that grip a little beefier in the palm, more pistol grip?

Does that laminate allow us to finish site window to center?

FlintRiverKen

Mike- two more questions, could you put up some pics of the 'choice of brown or grey actionwood'

and

what are the standard tip overlays choices now?
