How do these feathers look to everyone?

I had these arrows fletched at a local pro shop.  I'm going to post a whole bunch of pictures below.  I've been shooting them so their a little ruffled.  I was expecting them to all be glued on in a nice spiral pattern.  I don't know if you can tell from the pictures but they're not that way.  Some of them are bent a lot more than the others.  Also they are left wing feathers and it appears they have been glued on with a right wing jig.  Is that a bad thing to do or does it really matter?

The guy that manages the store wasn't there when I dropped the arrows off and the old lady that runs the cash register was the one who did the fletching.  I worried about that for a split second when I was there dropping them off and then I thought to myself "if you're using a jig how can you mess it up?"  Now I think I see how you can.  I didn't say anything when I picked them up because I didn't want to hurt her old feelings. Now I'm wondering if I should go back and complain sometime when the manager is there.

Or does it really matter?

I think I agree with your assessment that left wing feathers glued on with a right wing clamp. As far as it affecting arrow flight I can't say as I have never tried fletching up any arrows that way myself.

Might look a little odd but arrow flight might not be too bad I would guess (but just a guess!) I probbably would have been a little hesitant, as you were, if the old lady behind the counter was also the arrow fletcher. Good excuse to buy yourself a fletching jig and fletch your own. Lots of fun and very addictive too!!

Endless loop strings, heavy bows, and wood and only wood arrows...my kind of archery!

They look like LW feathers put on with a RW clamp to me also.

Jiminy Christmas, I'd be ashamed to sell you arrows like that.

Sorry to see that, that is not right at all. Mail them to me with feathers and I'll fletch you up some for free. The only thing is I only have a RW clamp.
Pm me if you are interested.

Sure is LW feathers with a RW clamp.  Not good coming from a bow shop.

I would talk to the shop owner.  First he needs to help his staff understand how to properly fletch arrows so she doesn't mess up more of them.  Second, You paid good money and should get what you paid for.

I have to agree though that you should buy a fletching tool and start fletching your own.  Way cheaper in the long run and more fun.

Hummm... Looks like the Guru deleted my pictures.  I wonder why?

Your photo has to be less than 600 Pixel total.

I have always been told that arrows fletched like those will fly very erratic and the feathers come off easily. Don't know from experience though.

I'd be interested to know what the shop owner says when you take them back and take them back I would!

I see.  The FAQ says pictures have to be less than 640 pixels wide.  I resized them.

No, they make your butt look big.

Sorry.    :D

These people are used to using vanes.
BTW, I would worry about her feelings, too. All part of being a caring human being. I would talk to the manager in private and let him deal with her education. Meanwhile, it is a kind of "*shrug*, yeah, I'm just learning all this stuff too" moment when you do see her. If there is refletching to be done, she will likely be there learning, so there is no secret there.

Take an arrow done properly with you so you can show him how it is supposed to look. And let him know we will give him lessons if he wants.

Bad very bad, I would take them back.

Buy a jig from the classifieds and end the guess work.  Even though I've only been "trad" for a short while, I have always fletched my own arrows.  Years later, I have so many friends having me fletch their arrows that they practically pay for my supplies.  Of course I make them buy their own plastic vanes.

Oh and I would go to another fletcher after you get your money or a new set of shafts back.

Looks like some the glue didn't take in the middle of the fletch and some of the nocks look likd they're out of alignement with the shaft also. Hap
