Good morning;
I'm looking for some recommendations regarding short (48" - 52"), high-quality bows for tight, dense hunting scenarios.  I've seen Fedora can go small but don't know about how well they, or others, perform.  I imagine some of the shortcomings to be finger-pinch, less accuracy, maybe more noise?
Any suggestions/advise/guidance on different bows is appreciated.  I have a 56" one-piece (whisperstik mojo; 51#@28) that seems pretty fast, fairly quiet, not much pinch, but not sure about real shorties.
Thanks for your time & consideration.

Cascade has a 48" and a 52" recurve.  I have the 52" and see no problems with my 28" draw.  Good bows, and they are a sponsor.

Don't know about high dollar bows, but i'm 6'1" with a 28 1/2" draw and I shoot a bear supermag 48" bow @ 55lbs. and have very little to no pinch and its very accurate even for a new shooter like myself, and its quiet with the right arrows and brace height.its a great ground bow and tree stand bow, but never had it in a blind. hope that helps some.

Here's one, the midsized recurve I make, It's 50" from tip to tip when braced, (54" following the curve along the back.) I took this pronghorn with the prototype 4 years ago and if you didn't notice, there's not silencers on that string.

Nice bow there Mike.I love myself short bows and at 29" I have no problem shooting my Bear KMags 52" or my Rocky Mountain 50".Those are older bows so I immagine the newer ones will be much better, you can't go wrong with a good reputation custom bow.

Don't shy away from grabbin' yourself a good old Kmag!  I picked one up recently,  paid around $275 ....and it was worth every penny!  This shorty is hilarious to shoot! Made in 72! 52", 45# at 28".  The POC arrows I make dont seem to be going too fast,  but man ....this little sucker just drops em one right on top of the other!  I shoot 5 arrows at five spots at 25yrd so that Im not ruining my arrows!  Got a 14 strand b50 flemmish with otter silencers.  Bow doesnt seem to stack,  no finger pinch,  hush quiet .....cant say enough!  Bow was in better condition than explained too,   so I feel as though I lucked out!  Go shoppin!

J.D. is now making a Whisperstik that I think is 52".  Here is a link to a thread about them.

I shoot old Bear Super Mags and love them.  I draw 28" and have no issues with pinch or stack.

Talk to Brent Rudolph about a Sheepeater Spirit. Awesome bow.

G&L archery is back in business and making a nice three piece take down recurve.

I just picked up a new Chek Mate Hunter 56. Great little bow.

Check out Chuck Dessler's (Two Tracks, a sponsor) 54" Ambush Recurve.  Rodney Wright makes several bows in that range, all nice shooters.  Brent's (Black Mountain Bows, also a sponsor) Sheepeater Spirit is great, as well.  I hear Jack Kempf also makes some very short bows.

I vote Cascade -- Steve has been at this awhile.

I got the chance to shoot one of J.D's  Whisperstik Boomslangs this afternoon.  Definitely worth checking out!  Silent, fast and not near the handshock of a few other short/light bows I have shot.  Another cool deal on this bow was a takedown hinge making it a 2 piece for ease of travel.

what about Shrew bows are they within the length you are looking for.

Thanks for all the response, great suggestions, advise, everything.  Man, I tell you - TradGang is like the archery fountain of knowledge!  I'm looking into it all & figure I've got some great selection, even one that no one's mention (kind of an obscure small bow but if I get it I'll post something about what I find out).  Thanks you guys,

Thanks for the plug Phil     but I don't make a recuve that long(LOL). The AMBUSH is only 50" ntn. I think it is like 46-47" with a string on it.Thank you.

Sorry, Chuck.  Mine's 54# in a 50" bow.  I knew there was a 54 in there somewhere.  That's what happens when I think!!!  I'll try to get my fingers coordinated enough to spell your name correctly, too.

You owe yourself a peek at the STALKER recurve from Rodney Wright. It is 46 little inches of silent death.
