Mr.Vic

Good luck Jerry and enjoy the scenery in Wyoming. Came through there a week ago for the third time and it's awesome. West of Cheyenne i seen a huge herd of Elk. Was going to stop and visit with Ferret but the driver was on a misson and i got out voted. Maybe next time. Have a safe trip.                                Vic

There is a lot going on in Mexico right now with the durg cartel, killings and such, and the Border Patrol is discouraging tourism and travel south of the border. Just a warning to use precaution and stay alert especially in the border towns. Nuevo Laredo was one of the areas mentioned.

I will take care and thanks for the heads up Louis and thanks Mudd.

I will check with Gerardo before I get close and I will see Gilbert in San Antonio first.

so i made it to cheyenne so far...wild weather from billings south.

Met Layton Perry...what a nice guy....pics and video to follow.

We had a good visit and got to shoot one of his silver tips..60# at my draw....my arm is fine and i shot pretty good i think in a stong wind.

15 yards will be my distance i think.

he has a great place there...generations of history in his family.

so i spent a couple of hours there and headed the back roads to boseman to get my boot...nice pics later.

so then it was a storm after billings....4 inches of slush with a sports car isn't much fun...finally found a pull out after 130 miles of 35 mph and sliding around.  they need more pull outs.

i arrived in cheyenne this morning and met Randy burtis - ferrtewyo.....another really nice fella. we had breaKY and went and shot some arrows (borrowed a longbow he just won at a banquet) nice bow.

the ad's sem to be shooting real well...pic to follow when i get off the road.

anyway i am off to golden/denver co

be ther in a coule of hours..gues the loner is there waiting.

Tommy if you could txt me it would be great to get together with you.

Jerry, I am just south of Laredo and might be able to get you a place to hunt on your way back up.
On a side note...make sure to remove the broadheads from your arrows before heading into Mexico and keep them in a different place.  You will more than likely get stopped at some Military Check points and they will go thru everything..I do mean everything.  The soldiers are pretty good to deal with and when asked why you have the bow and arrows, let them know that you were invited to shoot at the Grand Slam Norte in Monterrey, which is where Gerardo is located by the way.
Good luck on your trip and be safe.

heres a few pics

muley's

more

these are my first rounds with the silvertip of Laytons....two diferent arrows at 15 yards

top left was the first shot and those arrows are light so I mentally adjusted for the next ones...way different weights btw

Laytons form

Layton shooting at 25 yards he's pretty deadly

his results:

then i headed out to Boseman to get boots

weather changed a bit

i left billing to buffalo and then to cheyenne and the weather turned nasty especially with a G8 with road tires - not grips.

more to come

Jerry Wald

i had to go 135 miles in 4 inches of slush at 35 mph before i could find a reststop....crawled into my sleeping bag and intgo the back seat for a 4 hour nap..

i got up at 4 am and started again - 312 miles to go to get to cheyenne

Met Randy and we had breaky and then are heading to the archery range

full draw (randy)

his groups

then my turn at ten yards...another new bow and three of my ads...more things to get used to.

this was my fist three shots (yellows on the right)with his 57# longbow..sorry forgot the type..think it's a ferrett but I could be wrong...I am typing this with 5 hours of sleep since i left red deer on tuesday at 1:30 pm...alittle bushed

first one was the high one - second the next highest one and the third I had it zero'd in.

Nice to be shooting again...arm feels great

I will have some more coming tomorrow..

this has been so much fun so far....more fun in denver and then texas soon.

Cheers...I would like to thanks everyone for hosting me and mtg me so far and for all the advice and good wishes on my trip

fixed the inbox I think.

Anyway I met some great ppl today....The fella's at the Bowshop here...RMSgear.com ...(hope I spelt it right...check it later are awesome.

This is what showed up for me..PCH bow - 58" @ 60#...case and I put my arrows in it and was ready to shoot....hmm gotta phone Tommy.

Tom (the dad) has been running the shop for 15 years and his two sons Tommy (his 28th birthday today) and Danny work there too.

Talk about knowledgeable and great shooters.

Tommy invited me to go to the 3D range with them this morning Danny (their resident flyfishing guide is going to help me out with some spots to wet a line too)had some prior plans so we were set.

Started out a bit chilly - 32 degrees but it heated up nice later in the morning and was down right tropical.

So I met Tommy at the shop to shoot a few arrows incase I need anything but the arrows shot like darts out of the PCH...if mine shoots like this at 58# and a 56" bow I will be tickled pink.

So we drove to the range and met Tommy's dad Tom and we grabbed the bows and headed out.

There were mulies feeding on the hillside behind the range already.

so the first target was a bear...this was my first shot at 15 yards kneeling

Not bad for a NEW BOW and NEW ARROWS.

Tom shot them too ( the ads on this target and they flew like darts too out his bow (pics to follow).

Second target was a stand for a moose at about 40 yards...this is Tommy and Tom looking it over

THis is Tommy shooting

This is Tom shooting a deer target...great shooting.

mlore to come have to go to supper

Mudd

Those guys are some of the good ones. I have dealt with them a couple of times. They are the folks that hooked me up with my spirit bow.

Keep safe buddy, still got you covered in prayer.

If you get a chance to hunt with gatorgar-then definately do it. He will definately get you on some pigs. I just left San Antonio area and it is HOT!!!!! Never made it back down to Zapata to see my bud gatorgar due to schedules this time. Don't miss the opportunity. Gerardo is some good people too. Be careful at the border, still pretty hairy in those parts. Good luck!
