Well Gents, as I told you a few months ago I ordered an Old Tom from Dave.
It is here, it is sweet, beautiful and it shoots.
Dave built it as I requested and is a fine Gent to deal with.
Here she is "Mountain Mist"

The way I like the grip to fit me, with a very slight locator at the top pf the grip

The way an instinctive shooters hand should be right on the shelf

Thanks Dave, I will enjoy this sweetheart for many years to come

Very pretty.  I'm curious as to length, materials and poundage.  When you have a moment could you share?  Beautiful!

Beautiful bow! Whats the bow length & weight?

That's a nice looking bow,classic lines!!!

Sweet bow, and Yes David is the man. Guys I could be wrong but the riser is probably Myrtle wood and the limbs tempered bamboo with brown glass and gloss finish. If you want a bow built like Howard Hill's get a Miller. Congrats on the bow and Thanks for sharing the pictures. Flint

Renaissance Man

I believe the wood in the riser is Myrtlewood. The lams are Daves tempered bamboo, glued up and tillered before he puts the glass on the bow.
I went with brown glass as I love the classy yet functional/blend in look of it.
It is 45 @ 28 68" long. I draw 29" so it is about 48lbs for me. Perfect.
No silencers on the bow yet there is almost no sound upon the shot. No thud and no vibration to speak of.
Very well done.
On another note, arrow wise Paul from Elite arrows is a great Gent too. He sent me test arrows to try when my Miller arrived and I just put an order in with him. turns out a 65lb spine flys like a lazer, 67 is good and 63 too so the order went in.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Nice looking bow. I have one on order. Can't wait.

Renaissance Man

It seems long, I know. But to get a quality bow like this in three months is pretty amazing.

You can't beat David Miller. I have one of his Split Bamboo models and a custom string follow much like the Old Tom. Both are excellent bows and you can't find a better or more honest guy than David. I wish I would have ordered another bow from him instead of sending my money to Steve Shulz for a bow I will probably never see.

GMASIUK

Very nice bow. I like the brown glass also.

Don't seem long at all for us 29" draw folks.    That sure is one beauty of a bow! Congrats, and hope she brings many happy shooting sessions!   :clapper:

Thanks fellows for the compliments, I am very lucky for sure.
Spent a little time getting to know her today, had a motley collection of arrows and went out to the butts and had at it.
She is putting 600 grain arrows down range with authority.
Dave Miller was funny when I called him today, he said he took the bow out to shoot it when he was finished and walked back into his house saying to himself "no reason for someone not to like this a lot"
Nice fellow.
Oh and I forgot to mention this bow has the setback/reflex Dave got off of John Shultz's form.
It works well.
I think a lot of those old bowyers have forgotten more than most will ever know.

Shinken

That's a fabulous bow right there RM!

You will enjoy it!

I owned a RH Old Tom for a while and it was simply wonderful to shoot.

When I switched to LH shooting, the RH herd moved on and I am slowly building a *new* LH herd and I am looking forward to some Hill-style bows in the future!

:~)

Great looking unit!  Nothing like getting what you order and liking what you got.

Keep us posted.

Yea, that is a good way to go, wish everything in life worked like that

That is a great 65th birthday present, Sylvia did good! Would it be rude to ask for it at your wake?

Renaissance Man

Hey BitterMan, how are ya?
And that was my 55th which you already know so well.
Expected a little gift or remembrance from you. I guess it must still be in the mail.
And my son already has dibs on the bow when I kick the bucket, heck he can't keep his hands off of it now. Might have to watch my back LOL
