Looking for some feedback on the all glass limbs that Herb from Pronghorn builds. What are the pros/cons of his glass limds over the standard wood core limbs? Thanks

The all glass limb is great. It has a very different feel in a lot of bows the limb is lighter than the riser but in the all glass bow that is not the case. It is a very smooth and quick bow. I dont own one yet but have shot many many of them.

Any more questions.

I have only shot one set of all glass Longbow limbs, I prefer the Bamboo core. The bow I shot was a 60" and I prefer the 62" so that may have something to do with the feel of the limbs.


    I have a Ferret Recurve with the all glass series IV limbs and they are smooth on the draw and very fast.

I've never even seen all glass limbs but would like to shoot a pair.  Sounds interesting.

Tater .. I too have a Ferret IV 62" 58@28, very smooth and fast. Herb said he only built (2) 62" Ferret's so I guess I have one of them   . Any way I really like the Ferret in Glass limbs but assumed that the LB limb woul dbe a little different.

Pat you are right that Ferret shoots really nice with the all glass limb. My Ferret has a mostly glass limb ha ha. It has red elm veneers over core glass with clear on the outsides. It is a sweet shooter for sure.

Steve if you ever decide to sell that Ferret put me at the top of your list. I would sure love to have a 62" Ferret.

     The Ferret I have is the standard 58", my Longbows are 62", I have never seen a 62" Ferret, but I bet it is smooooooth!

Tater ... yes the 62" ferret is the smoothest 58# bow I ever shot ...and really throws a arrow with authority. I heard that the all galss limbs longbows have a "thump" in them when you shoot but the Ferret does not, I don't notice it. I have in other bows but not this one.

Ferret .. if I ever part with it I'll be sure to let you know. I've had the Pronghorn LB in the past and really like the overall weight of the bow, this all glass Ferret is a little heavier which I think I can get use to  

I plan to take her out to your state this fall after Elk ...

where will you be elk hunting?

          That was my impression of the all glass Lomgbow limbs I shot, a noticable thump (little shock) after the shot, still quiet just a noticable thump.

       I will stick with the Bamboo core. Quick and quiet and no thump.

Ferret,

Well .. maybe just south of the broador from you in the Med. Bow Range around Walden or in the Routt Nat. Forest. Just not sure yet need to look at numbers. Any suggestions would be greatly appricated. It's only my 3 yrs hunting Elk ... really got close last year but haven't filled my tag yet ...sure had fun trying

I only shot one with all glass limbs, and didn't think much of it. I owned one with osage, another with red elm, and much preferred them.

I have shot one and though it was a nice bow and shot well didn't care for the "feel" of the limbs at the end of the shot. This may be from  being fast- I have noticed this shooting carbon limbs too. I don't like the feel of carbon fly rods either FWIW...

But I'm nit-picking and didn't spend enough time with the bow to really give it a chance. But initial impression is I prefer a bamboo cored limb. They just feel smoother at the end of the shot, even when its a bow I just picked up and only shoot a few times.
