It's my turn to say I got the call   .  Jim's has some delays with the belly carbon for the Carbon Elite model so I changed my order for a Chimera  and I got to move up by several weeks (like the look of wood limbs better anyway)    But Jim didn't have the limb lams I desired  so i was a little let down until Jim said let make it happen    Jim asked if I wanted to locate the wood I wanted  and have it shipped to him by next week and of course I said yes! Here where this site and it members really shine, I had remembered reading a post several months back about the "Birth of the most beautiful Widow" and the man who supply the wood for the Black Widow bow company (John Michael Pyeatt of Rosewood Archery). While I did searches for that particular thread I posted a plead for help on wood lams and received several replies with sources and Rosewood being one of them.  Long story short i was able to hook Jim up with Mike at Rosewood and the Lams will be there by Tuesday next week! Big Thank you to the Gang and Mike at Rosewood for the Help!!

I know how excited you are. My Chimera got shipped yesterday! Not surprised that Jim was willing to go the extra mile to "make it happen". He is a master of his craft and a man of great integrity.
Can't wait to see some pictures of your ultra custom Centaur.

I hope my choice of wood combo turns out as well as it does in my mind        I asked Jim to find the Darkest Cocobolo with lots of figure for the riser and Mike is sending Jim some Burl Olive Ash for the belly lams. It will have the Ash and coco on the riser overlays and also on the tips. I also sent Jim a picture I drew of how I wanted the stippling to swoop on the grip.

Killy ad other who have theirs with skins.  How durable would the skins be? I hunt in a lot of brush type terrain?  O course I live in South MS and where I hunt it is very thick with lots of briar patches and huge sticker vines etc...would skins hold up? Or would i be better served with just the carbon on the back?

Jim is a gentleman first followed by a gifted "artist". My favorite is deep dark Cocobolo with Yew lams, topped off with his "signature" stippling. A true fuctional work of art.

The person to ask would be Jim. I am sure that he has had feedback from many customers regarding his skins. As I have never hunted with a skinned bow in Mississippi, I could not begin to hazard an opinion. I have another skinned bow that has hunted Virginia with me, and it's fine. The skins are protected by the bow's finish. But again, Jim would be the expert on his skins and finish.

Jim is the man. He can do a lot with wood. He carved and oak leaf and acorn on mine thats georgous. I would post a pic of it but just can't get it to work right.(the pic, not the bow,,lol)
