ANYONE SHOOT ONE ???WHATS IT LIKE ?

I'll have to wait a bit to give you much of a report as mine just got here yesterday. I've shot a couple of quivers full through it and my 1st impressions are... it'll do to hunt with. Hits where I'm looking, I can feel it a little in the bow hand when shot but nothing of concern. It's sure not going to wear me out carrying it as it weighs next to nothing.

If you have any specific questions just ask and I'll be glad to tell you what I think or my opinion.

My father has one and I have never been able to shoot it. It is very light, which I am not a fan of. Because it is so light it has a lot of handshock.

Bit of hand shock and a VERY narrow grip. Did like how light it was.

I had one. It's not a bad entry level bow, but as stated above the grip is tiny. Those that have them seem to like them.

Its a fine bow for a production bow! Its alot like my Bear Montana, light as a feather and quiet! Shot one at a 3D shoot last summer, it was a good shooter but had a tad bit of handshock! the owner was goin to move up to a heavier arrow to see if that would help with the overall mechanics of the bow! he was shooting 60# with 11/32 cedar arrows, i told him if he went up to maybe a 600gr arrow it would help alot, maybe cure the problem completely!

My wife absolutely loves her 30LB at 28" Martin Stick. She really likes the small grip and that "Howard Hill" look which she considers a "real bow"! Got to love a gal with attitude.

***However, if you draw 27" or more I would look elsewhere.

If the Stick is the same as the old Martin ML10 (and I think it is) then it's a miracle I'm still shooting traditional equipment--that was my first tradbow as an adult back in 1979. It was awful--marked 50#, it was more like 54#. Handshock to the carpal tunnel level. I couldn't get it to shoot, and neither could my way more experienced friends. I'm glad your wife likes hers-- there's a good one in every litter, I guess. The rest are dogs.

The Stick is a different bow, smaller and lighter than the Mountaineer.

Ok! I just went out specifically to gather data..well ok my impressions...lol and give you my answer.

I did not find it unpleasant in any way. It's a longbow and feels like a longbow. It's not a very long longbow by my standards at 62" but its a shooter. It was light, smooth on the draw with a very mild thump in the shooting hand.
It's not the fastest bow nor the best cast but for what it is, it does it well. I also have a Montana Bear at 50# and the Montana might be a little smoother but it's also 68". The "Stick" is only 45@28.

I think it will work fine for what I wanted it for and that's to help introduce folks to traditional archery. I wouldn't use it if I felt it was going to turn people off to archery because it was unpleasant to shoot.

Anyway this is my "fresh in my mind" take/opinion on a 62" 45@28 Howatt Martin "The Stick".

Thanks ...Its kind of like my "selfbows" Light and small. I wanted a bow that was something like them but I didn't have to baby it like a selfbow. Keep it strung and anywhere !!! What is the highest ### You can get ???? ...Jeff I seen one at Gander Mountain but it was 45 #. Thought it was something to look into.!

I shot the ML-10 stick and it had a lot of hand shock to me. My HH has less. 'Course it could have just been that particular bow also. :rolleyes:

I had a Stick and sold it. Shot great, but the hand shock level was unacceptable.

Instead, if you want a great, new, entry level bow for roughly the same price, with no shock to speak of, try the Great Northern Field Bow. They are great shooters.

if the hand shock bothers you like it did me i put a quiver on mine and shot a heaver arrow and almost all of it was gone

ive got one, had it for about ten years , got it from three rivers, its 55# @ 28" ...its out on loan rite now i really didnt much care for it (hand sock) little itty bitty skinny thang ( stick by howatt) is what it says on the side of it.... my cousins boy sure can shoot it though he said im gonna shoot that deer(target) rite in the head.. and sure enough wamm rite in the head @ 20 yds. 2117 alum.plastic vanes..so i let him hang on to it till he gets something else..

Have both an ML-10 and a Stick. I increased the size of the grip on the Stick and also gave it a bit of an index. Love it. It is 55# and draws smoothly. The ML-10 will go to a friend who likes it.
