Was wondering if anyone had one of Jay St Charles' custom Pacific Yew Classic longbows. If so, could you post some pics?

I second that.  Any opinions on the bows ?  Nice ?  shooters ?  I have been considering getting one for a few years now and just never do.

Chuck, I talked to Jay this afternoon about his bows and he was a great person to talk to. Very informative and answered all my questions straight forward. I was looking into a 3pc t/d longbow but, after talking to Jay, I am seriously considering buying one of his.

I wonder if they will be at Compton's again this year.  I have a fairly good number of bows.  Don't mean to collect them but I seem to keep getting another.  I do not have a yew longbow or a selfbow.  I think maybe it is time to get serious about that option.

Fantastic Rob, you have just boosted my decision. I sent Jay another email and will be ordering up one next week. Are those ebony limb tips? I have ebony tips on my HH Half Breed and think they will look nice on the Classic.

I have three, all takedowns. The short 50#er is as smooth as they get. I also have two 55#ers, one glass and one yew/rawhide in the high 50's that are a little heavy for me now and I may let them go.

Jay's bows do seem to be plagued with   streaky glass, though, unless he's gotten that taken care of.

This is the 50#er, 62" with horn tip overlays.

I have 2 TDs. One is 60", 60#@27", the other is 64", 53#@27".  The 64" has horn tip overlays.  The 60" is a 1992 model and is a little deeper cored without tip overlays.  I use DF97 on both of them (Jay said it was OK) and they are smooth and quiet. Not the fastest bows on the rack, but very solid and consistent.  The 64" and my 66" HH Tembo are my favorite bows and see more action than my other dozen or so r/d bows.  No pics, but they look about like those already pictured.
And in the end of our exploring we shall return to the place where we started and know that place for the first time.

Thanks guys. I spoke with Jay about my 29" draw and he stated there was something that he does for a 64" bow to handle that. Like Robs bow I am going to have the Ebony limb tips if Jay has any ebony wood. Not to copycat but, I just love ebony on Yew or Osage. I have ebony tips on my HH Half Breed as stated before. My bow will be 64", 45# @ 29".

Greg: Thanks for the info. I am not looking for speed so much as smooth and quiet. I am glad to hear they are solid and consistent. I've got my Black Widows for speed.   :D

yep, my draw is also 29", hence the 64" pac yew length.

Hi, Rob. Dunno if you remember, but the T/D in my post was once yours. Nice bow!

I'm getting the one piece but, was wondering how that t/d system holds up? Does it stay tight over years of use?

Hi Rob. Dunno if you remember, but the #30 classic in your post is now mine.    Actually it is being used by my two daugthers, but I like to fool with it also. Another nice bow!

the pac yew tube t/d worked very well, never got loose on me.  any telescope kinda joint is susceptible to dirt and even dust, so it's gotta be kept clean and dry.
