I shoot r/d longbows purty good and takedown recurves as well but I enjoy shooting D bows ,mostly Hill style bows the best.
You can beat it around all you want but a shorter recurve or R/D longbow is a bit "easier" in the woods but Hill bows are made for kill`n. I actually tend to get on target quicker and shoot faster if needed with a Hill bow.
So what do you do? Hunt the bow thats easiest in the woods or hunt the bow you enjoy shooting the best.I can kill stuff at 30 yards with either so accurracy is not a deciding factor.
I must say I can never remember a critter getting away without a shot becuse my bow was too long but it can be a bit awkward at times. But I tend to enjoy the walk and hunt so much more with a LLOOONNNGGGbow.

Just was curious if any of you other fellows have this "problem".RC

To me traditional archery is all about what gives you the most rewarding experience. For me that is a Hill bow and a back quiver! It's not the most popular choice, nor is it the easiest choice, but I didn't get into trad archery to be popular or have it easy...I would still be shooting  wheels if that was it! If your not getting the most personal satisfaction you can while afield, why go? Just my $.02 worth!

Longer Hill bows suit me. All I've owned 32 years worth. Wish I'd gone to the BQ earlier.

Life is short.  If you have the accuracy, and enjoy the longbow more; go for it.  It is about enjoyment for me.

RC,
I couldn't agree with you more! Hand me my 70" D-bow and I'm in Loooongbow Heaven!

I love a D style longbow myself. I'm not saying I wouldn't own an R/D bow. I most likely will, but nothing makes me want to ramble and hunt more than a traditional D-style longbow - though I prefer a bowquiver.

I LOVE a backquiver and it DOES amplify my experience somewhat to wear one, I just haven't gotten used to it.

I shoot my 62"recurve the best out of all my bows but i also like my shrew longbow out of my climbing stand. But i love my 66" longbows eather mild R/D or straight limb.So i just pick what ever i feel like hunting with at that time. O yea and i have another straight limb bow comming from Apex predator in a couple of months that might just be my favorite then!

I hunt the one that feels the best and the one I have the most confidence with. It's the arrows that I change up mostly.

I'm just a recent Hill bow convert, so what do I know?  But that 68" Jerry Hill is really working it's magic on me.

The Black Swan Classic D is what got me hooked on Arvid's bows. Still one of my all time "fun" bows.

Love my longbows, nothing like a featherweight weapon!

Benny Nganabbarru

My favourite longbow is a 70" Hill; but I still have heaps of fun with my recurves.

I do have the same problem.  So I still shoot both bows.

I agree that longer is better - my new 66" BW PLV is my best shooting one yet...

The fun bow for me is the short 52in. Shrew Classic hunter but I cant hit crap with it .

For comfort , accuracy and smooth drawing its for sure a 64in. Mohawk . I just love the traditional lines of this bow and can shoot it very well also .

I should have thought to have you shoot my Yellowstone when we were there. It's a fine shooting bow. Nothing better than a good longbow in the woods.
