I'm pretty new to this traditional stuff.  I'm just getting my bow and arrows set up this week.  Right now it looks like my arrow set up will be between 650 and 700 grains.  Is that too heavy for my 62 lbs.?  Or is there no such thing for too heavy?  Thanks.

I knew someone would ask that.  Well, I haven't shot them yet.  I hope that doesn't make my question pointless.  I just put weight tubes in them last night and later this week I will experiment with different weight tips.  Right now with a 150 grain tip it will put me at about 700 grains.  I was just thinking that maybe I should take the tubes out.  I guess I won't really know till I shoot them.  I've just always heard that 10 grains per pound of bow weight is good.  Thanks.

Try them first. Then if you want to try something else, remove the tubes and put 250 or 300gr up front and see how they fly. You have lots of room for more weight if desired.

Thanks.  Any pointers on how to get a tube out once it's in?  The tubes I got fit very snug.  Also my insert will be glued in.  There will be no way to ram it back out the end if I pop the nock off.  I guess I might be in a pickle if I want to take them out.  Thanks again.

I prefer 10 to 12 gpp.  You need to shoot em though to find out how they work.  You may end up with more point weight.  Tuning arrows to your bow is half the fun.

To get the tubes out - get a LONG deck screw, get it started/bite into the tube - pull tube out.  No harm - no foul!

What's too heavy is subjective.  I like a heavy arrow.  But - I don't shoot past 20yds on game.  H

Nope,

Lots of hitting power in that weight of arrow.  Put the weight up front instead of in tubes and your ready for hunting almost anything, almost anywhere.  Leave out Elephant, Hippo, and Rhino and your good to go.

Used 2315's with 250gr woodsmans up front [685gr. total] with 62Lb blackwidow recurve on african big game-worked GREAT!! You just need to make sure they shoot ok and you are golden. The more weight the better I think.

Im shooting 730 grains with my 62lb bow. They shoot straight and hard. I like'em.

Nope not to heavy at all. I shoot 740 Grains out of my 2 longbows..(see below)

Frasettor shoots squirels with'em, what's overkill? :)If they shoot good, they're good to go!

I'm currently shooting 685 grains with a 54# longbow. These are for hogs and they shoot great. There is a point of diminishing return, but you aint there yet.

I shoot the same as lablover at least at this time.I don't tend to worry bout the weight so much as the flight. 500 - 800 anything in there will shoot thru most things and still stay within the 8gr/#(496gr @ 62# draw) which is the bottom for many warrenty"s

62#s for a newbie       I did that myself but in reality I wish I'd have started out alot lower

Well swampbuck, i guess I'm not totally a newbie.  I've bow hunted for close to 20 years and a while back I shot a couple recurves for a year or two.  I just feel like a newbie again.
