Who makes an all black phenolic riser?  What would the price be?

A number of bowyers will use phenolic if requested. As to price, each would have their own. It makes a nice riser, which is denser, and considerably heavier.

Preacherman

I read that it makes a real heavy riser

Bob Morrison makes one.  I've got a friend who has one.  It's a Cheyenne, I "think".

TradTech offers the Recon 15" riser.  It's phenolic with wood accents.

Cascade Archery offers a phenolic riser in their recurves.

Ive got a Morrison cheyenne all phenolic and a 2 piece bow bolt phenolic from 7 Eyes coming.Toelke,Navaho and Shrew offers them as well.Phenolic works great with the bowbolt 2 piece TD system I do believe.I like the Morrison riser I have.Indesructable comes to mind.

RonD

Dave Beeler makes a phenolic riser on his Beeler longbows. I currently have one on order. You can go to his website or pm me and I will e-mail you a photo of a similar bow he made.

Lamey

Black Widow makes an all phenolic riser for the PL,  i think its about a $100 upcharge for the solid phenolic.

Do you guys notice a huge weight difference btw them and exotic woods and metal risers?

I do as well.  A nice way to do it is to put 1/4" slabs of exotic wood on the outsides of it for looks.  Like a really big "I beam".  Bocote or cocobolo looks really good with the black.

The Chek-Mate Crusader take-down longbow has a phenolic riser.

I like it in a small riser, but not in a bigger one.  It weighs a ton compared to almost any wood.  Very strong stuff.

Jeremy,

That bow of your's is a beauty. Looks like a Bear Super Kodiak, but it's probably Brandon's Super Wildcat.

Joe, look a little closer  ;)
It's actually Brandon's "B" riser with #3 limbs.  It'll be getting a refit with the yokes and latches to convert it to a true "Bear" T/D when I get the time, but yeah, I wanted it to look like the early Super Kodiaks.

I asked Black Widow awhile back, and they said they can make one. Check their website and look under the bow of your choice for the cost of a riser alone.

Not the best picture but this Big River longbow has a solid Phenolic riser adds a little weight but shoots smooth.

Foxtail

Here's a Hummingbird that has a phenolic riser. Also have a Bob Lee that has it in the riser as well, and I quite like the heft of both- not to mention the aesthetics. Yes, it does add weight to the bow, but not 'a ton'. Can't give an accurate answer, but on average, I would say no more than about 30% increase, and this is only when it is used in a substantial manner as in this bow.

The extra heft and mass give me a sense of greater stability. I get the same thing from some of my bows that have alot of ebony in them. I'm largely a 1 pc recurve shooter, and prefer a bow with a bit more weight. I find the combination of a good realease and the solidity of a slightly heavier riser to be a very effective combination that works nicely for me.

Bob Lee I believe wiil on reguest. I have shot one and it was great.
