totally subjective stuff.

most importantly, what limb veneer woods does yer bowyer have in stock and how long to get in something he doesn't have?  check first with yer bowyer!

as to limb cores, my choice is always grass: bamboo or action-boo, for smoothness of draw.

good luck, chad - have fun.

I hear ya Chad, a piece of wood looks different when put on a limb and matched to a riser. I can tell you this, regardless of weather your bowyer has the wood you want or not you can still get it. Most bowyers will let you send them the veneer if they do not carry it. At least the ones I've dealt with will. My latest limbs for my Morrison I picked out from  www.theveneerstore.com  and had them shipped to Bob Morrison. They matched perfectly!
On another note, if you have a chance to shoot a bow with foam as your core then at least give it a shot. You might like it better than the boo core. To each his own though.

Regardless, we would love to hear what you decide.

Heres the set of veneers I bought and had sent to Bob. The veneers are Masur Birch on foam cores.

There are a lot of types of veneer one can use.  To help narrow your choice, decide on the color you want your bow to be.  There are many bocate, zebrawood etal out there.  Make it special for YOU and what you want to look at!
