I just ordered a new Firefly TD longbow with these wood combo's for the riser. Does anyone have a bow with this combination of woods, and if so, can you post a picture? Thanks.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Here's a Morrison with gabon ebony and cocobolo I found on a post sometime.. If i took the fun out of someone posting their bow, sorry!

Macassar can get almost as dark, but will generally have more dark brown in them!

I believe that Robertson Stykbow has a couple of ebony/cocobolo on their homepage as well..

Thanks for the pictures. I really wasn't sure what the macassar ebony would look like. Frankly, I was hoping it would be more like the gabon ebony as I have seen that type of combo before. I am posting a picture from the Braveheart website which shows the type of limb veneers I will be getting. They are waterfall bubinga. I would like a riser with a two wood contrasting combo that would compliment the wood veneers. I am afraid that the macassar ebony has so much brown in it that it may not contrast very well with the cocobolo. Any suggestions as to wood combos for the riser. The bow has not been started yet so I am sure if I get back to Jim in the near future I could change the riser wood selection. Thanks for any input.

Here are a few pics of my RER with Macassar and Bacote. It is more brown than Gaboon. I have a shawnee with Gaboon and Coco and it looks good. I'll try to find some pics of it too.

I have been trying to decide between cocobolo or macassar for my next bow. I like the macassar with a bocote or zebrawood accent. Or the cocobolo with bloodwood. Your are right that the macassar is brown and the coco is red, not sure how that would look together. Bolivian rosewood is more of a dark brown. Looks like 3(?) pieces in the riser? Maybe sandwich a piece of bubinga between macassar or bolivian rosewood?.

Here is a macassar Quest and coco Silvertip. Hope the owners don't mind me posting, they are beautiful bows so I saved the pics and keep looking at them.

Goke, that's a great looking RER!

Okay, it is offical. Arnold Smit of V Archery makes one of the finest looking bows out there.

Put up some more pictures of that bow from the front and back. I want to see how the antler overlays look against the woods.

Dan,

Here is a Macassar Ebony Silvertip I have, I think your combo will look great with waterfall bubinga limbs:
