Ron, do you know the fellow that is kneeling/squatting in the second row next to the young boy?  I think he may be a friend that I have made a couple of hunts to Texas with recently.  If so we all look a little diffrent than we did back then

Tommy

Wrong picture. I will try again

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way.

Jerry took us on a tour one year, loaded everyone in a church bus. This is the front of the last house where Howard lived on Howard Hill Dr. That's Jerry in the middle next to the pillar standing by Mrs Ben Pearson. I'm on the far left.

I don't recognize him Tommy, sorry.

Does anyone recognize the tall guy in the light blue shirt?....That's my good friend John Lee, the man who knew Howard and made the last two bows that he shot. The older Gentleman sitting next to the gray haired lady is Bob Palmater. Bob was also a very good friend and a huge Howard Hill fan. Bob passed away five years ago. The fellow on the far right is Lynn Clark. Lynn was a bowyer and even though he wasn't a big man. he shot a 90# bow. Next to him is Maurice cash. I met Maurice years ago when I thought I was the only one in Michigan that shot a longbow. It was at a shoot at the Detroit Archers, Fred Bears old archery club. I was walking through a bunch of compound shooters near the club house when out of the crowd coming towards me was this guy with a back quiver and a longbow...   :scared: ..it was like meeting a brother that you didn't know you had and it was the beginning of a long friendship.

Ron, Thanks for posting those pictures, what a great piece of history you shared, nice legs too  :)

I used to hang out with Jerry at a few sporting shows back in the nineties. He would be the only one there selling Trad gear.

The thread was pretty old but so were the pictures, they are worth a second look, great piece of history.

Ron LaClair

I found another picture taken the same day of the group tour. The post are supports for Howards target bails in his yard.

Hey Ron is all that still there? When I get to Georgia in a few months I want to go to Alabama and would like to check that place out.

Tim, the house is probably still there but the target post are probably gone. When I was there in 80-81 Howard had only been gone for 5 or 6 years. The wood of the post had already started to rot and crumble. I remember taking a small piece of the wood and putting it in the bottom of my back quiver for luck.

Thats a shame it was rotting away, cool you got a piece. That would be cool to integrate it into a bow handle. Does the archery club still stand?

I pm'ed Jerry back in mid-Janurary and still have no response. Anyone heard how Jerry's doing?

Hope all is well with him.

tradlongbow

Jerry was selling some quivers and arm guards on **** last month. Someone asked how he was doing and Jerry said that he survived a bypass. I hope he is recovering fine.

I hope this helps,
