Anyone using the Samurai Broadheads from Alaska Bowhunting Supply?  How do you like em?

I just bought a set of the 175gr. Samurai Broadheads for Pig hunting here in Northern California.  

My set up is:

175 gr. Samurai Broadhead.
100 gr. Brass Insert
AD Trad Lites cut 31"

These will be shot out of my Toelke Whip 52#@29.5"

I had some! They were very nice heads. A little pricey, but very well made.  One thing I had trouble with, is I used one to shoot for practice into a broadhead target. I could never get an edge back on it. I shot it so much it dulled the edge??? I am not the best sharpening guy, but even a friend of mine, who can sharpen a butter knife to shave with (exaggeration) could not get it back sharp. Sooooo.. Just don't shoot them to practice unless you have one to spare... Otherwise, I think they are as good as any head I've ever seen...

I killed 5 deer and 1 hog this year with the 175gr.left bevel. I was very pleased. All shots were pass thru's. Sharpening is a breeze with the Griz Stick wheels. I strop on leather to flip burr back to get Razor sharp.

Anyone have any luck sharpening them without the Grizzly Sticks Wheels?

To sharpen without grizzly wheels is really no different than any other single bevel. Simply place the file flat against the shoulder and file down to the microscopic edge of the shoulder till you produce a Burr that barely curls back to the other side ( flat side). Then take a leather stropp or cardboard and lightly drag flat side down backwards and peel that burr off.....it's sharp now...you can use quality diamond stones instead of files also.

You can use the KME system on them too.  todd

I used them this year with good results on two deer. Both pass throughs. The only negative is the price.

I shot two turkeys last spring with the 200gr model and a few hogs also. The are a very nice broadhead and I love the design/shape plus steel is high grade I shot a 100lb hog last spring and the broadhead still shaved hair on my arm afterwards.
