I'm thinking about ordering a black widow bow.
For those who own a black widow bow, do you think there's any difference in the performance between the X bows compared to the gray bark, or the autumn oak bows?

Personally, not much difference at all. The x bows have your choice of wood, but my graybark shoots the same as my tulipwood. Both are great shooters, smooth to draw and have decent speed.

I cannot speak about the "X" models, but between the gray(psall) and the oak (psalll) there is very little difference.  Truly as "Pops" said each have their own heart.
I would recomment BW's.  Solid smooth shooters!!

I have a sa11 graybark 60" 59# and Ironwood 58" 55# and I cannot tell much difference except it is a little more strain to pull the 59#. Also the Ironwood weighs more.

Some say the X models with bamboo cores are a little smoother to draw.  I tried a PTF with boo cores and it seemed to be a tiny bit smoother to draw than my PAII.  I guess noticable enough for me that I ordered one with bamboo. I couldn't tell any difference in the riser materials, just that I liked those bamboo cores.

I really like the way my Yew PSAX limbs perform and feel. Talk to the Widow boys and they will set you in the right direction. Big Ed

I have a PL X Yew, and an other, PL II. Weights a little bit differents, but equal pleasure to shoot both.
And since few days, a PMA II, but not yet the good arrows to marry it.

I have four Widow's including X's, an Ironwood, and a Graybark.  Honestly, I see no difference in terms of the drawing characteristics or the performance.  They all shoot great and cast the same weight arrow just about equally.

I just got my first Widow and LOVE it!!  Its an Autumn Oak PSR III... my guess is that the X is the deluxe exotic "prettiest" model, but all the bows will perform the same.

I've had a PSAX Bocote and now own a PSAII Graybark both 58" 54 @ 26.5 and both bareshafted to the same arrows 640g Carbon Express Heritages with 250g up front. The Graybark is just as quick and quite. The only difference is the PSII feels lighter in physical weight. You can't go wrong with a BW no matter which one you get,, Frank

I have a PSA X osage with copperhead skins and all i can tell you is WOW its a sweet shooting bow.

I also have a Morrison ILF recurve and my Widow is my go to bow at the moment.

It was a very easy bow to set up and i got it shooting darts in no time.

For you'r first bow I'd go with the grey or oak.The boys at B.W.Told me there very little difference,between all of them. I my self have x because I love the exotic woods.That first B.W. won't be your last.John T.What style are you looking at?

I have 6 of them made from anything from Autumn Oak, to Ironwood, to Osage, to Tulipwood...  Can't tell squat's worth of difference in any of them.

Nope there is not a difference except looks.

Denny Strugis and I were talking about this very thing at Kalamazoo. I told him that the osage had a different "feel" than the others. He imediately agreed.

I'm not saying it's good or bad, and I can't explain it, but I found it interesting that he and I both had the same opinion. It's enough of a difference to me that I won't ever buy anything else.

I currently own 4 Widows.
PSA III, PTFX Osage Limbs/Cocobolo Riser, PRS II, and PL V.

In my opinion the bamboo limbs have a different feel, but not much difference in terminal performance.  Unlike other X models, if you choose Osage limbs they will not have bamboo cores, all the wood in the limbs is Osage.

The bamboo cores seems to make a greater difference in feel in the PL series.  I attribute that to the thicker limb cores.

I feel the real adavantage, in terms of feel, with the X series is that different woods will slightly change the physical weight of the bow (as mentioned above).

For what its worth, my go to bow is the PSA Autumn Oak.

Again these are my opinions and observations .... your mileage may vary.
