in your experience, what is the most accurate longbow you've shot or the most "popular" seen in competition?

I wish I had the money for one, although I dont think its the bow as much as it is the shooter. But the best longbow I've ever shot was my buddys Black Widow longbow. Everything about that bow felt right, got me a thinkin' bout' sellin all my other bows to buy one...maybe, tax returns commin tho..

I don't think its the bow, but the shooter. Although I have seen some fine shots with Hill bows and on the other end of the spectrum ACS longbows. I still think its the shooter not the bow!

It's all in the eye of the beholder, or more specifically, the hand/eye coordination of the beholder!    :D

I have shot/owned alot of great bows. I would have to say the best that I have shot was either a Schafer Silvertip longbow or a Thunderstick II. Kohannah Fury and Great Northern Fireball are right up there too. It comes down to personal preferences, what style grip do you like, how important is speed compared to smoothness or lack of hand shock. Alot of veriables there.

It will be the one that "fits" you best!  i have chased the holy grail of the magic bow (Killie had it but she sold it to Larry i think).  I've shot and owned some of the most expensive high end bows and some middle of the road.  What i found, for me, is that i cannot shoot a straight gripped longbow very well.  i need either a fairly pronounced locator grip or a recurve grip. My advice is to shoot a bunch of bows, then shoot some more.  Maybe before you die, you will find your "magic" bow!  

The best shooter I personally know shoots a bow made by a local bowyer. His bow looks like a widow riser with longbow limbs. I purchased one of his bows and couldnt shoot it to save my life. Its the shooter not the bow.

The bow has very little to do with accurary.  On the other hand,the shooter and the arrow do. That's the nice thing about trad archery, you can't buy accuracy. You have to earn it.  

Recently shot a Zipper SXT takedown longbow at Kalamazoo after shooting many of the competitors bows and was amazed.  Very Light, Dead in the hand, whisper quiet, and really, really fast.  The handle design keeps the string away from my forearm by at least 1" or better.  This will be great when piling on the hunting clothes or wearing gillie/leafy suits.  Went to Kalamazoo to place an order for another brand longbow but needless to say I immediately ordered a Zipper.  Now I have that agonizing wait. Bill at Zipper seems to be very one on one with customers and listen to their needs.

I do love my fireball, she is fast, my tomahawk is super stable and even faster. But like I said before, you could be shootin' an old banged up kmag, but if your hittin where you want everytime thats all that matters.

The thing that I have learned is if you have to stick to one bow. you will learn how to shot that bow like none other, dont keep switching bows even if you own many. Especially recurves to longbows, or vice versa. Find one you really like and practice, practice, practice. Every bow is different, even bows that appear identical sometimes. This is my problem sometimes.

For me it would have to be a 3-piece ACS by A@H.

Although right now im shooting a Bear Paws Longbow thats not near as fast but i can bust nocks with that bow.

I agree with everyone else though find a bow that just feels right to you and learn how to shoot that sucker.

The bows i shoot best seem to have a good sight window if that makes any sense.

I pull the bow to anchor and the bow seems to lock in on the target.

You did real good! The SXT is also high on my list of must have bows. One of these days...one of these days....

No such thing as an accurate bow - only accurate shooters.

Stick any bow in a machine and it will stack arrows tighter than any of us.It is the monkey pulling the string and accurate is just what he likes in a bow.

the kinda longbows created today, any one of 'em are capable of far more accuracy than most any archer.  shooting machines have proved this over and over again.  

this is still a free form aiming sport, based on perfection of form, execution of aim-release-follow through.  don't matter whether yer popping paper or pigs.
