I like mine at 8 1/8". I'd say start at 7 1/2 " and add a few twists until you find the sweet spot.

Mine was made in 1995, and shoots quiet with a 16 strand B-50 string, set at 8 3/8" brace.

FDR

I shoot mine at 7 7/8 and its very quiet.
