I was thinking about shooting frogs this summer.  Do they have the same health advisories as fish?  

Any help would be appreciated!!

The legs are excellent.  I've never heard of any advisories against them.

If your talking about mercury warnings those are for fish bigger than 12" because it takes a few years for them to get that big. They can absorb alot of mercury over the course of several years. Frogs generally aren't that long winded. On the flip side of that coin you would have to eat fish every day for every meal before you would get enough mercury to cause you any issues. Even if you were eating all large fish.

Theyre alot of fun to shoot and theyre pretty tasty too.I dont think you have to worry too much about health advisories as long as you dont kill 10 lbs of em.Ill take you to my club pond one day this summer for some froggin.

If you are worried about mercury toxicity (pregnant women, children, etc.), yes it does accumulate in frogs.  i would think you would have to eat a bunch though!  Do a google search and then decide for yourself.

If Im not mistaken, the DEC has advisories listed in the fishing regulations for fish, shellfish, and frogs.

deep fry then roll in Louisiana hot sauce and eat. You will love them!  

Oddly enough, they have lifted the limit here in Washington due to their overpopulation, destruction of native frogs, and the fact few folks hunt them.



If eating them causes health problems, I know a candidate for the "poster child".

Been eat'n frog legs since I was knee high to a pothole and never had any issues. Growing up in Oklahoma it was pretty much a bi-weekly meal.      :D

I LOVE ace hex blunts for frogs. Never cared for Judo's.

The AMS reel is for the frogs.  We use Judos the Kondor with the very large springs.  A direct hit and you pin them to the ground, but if you nick them they jump in the water.  When there hit like that they usually swim on top of the water, that's where the AMS come into play.  Just shoot and reel them in.
