Who hunts birds without a blind???? I never took one with trad gear.I look forward to it this spring. This year the scattergun stays home. If I have to I might try a ground blind.

I have been at it for 2 years, last year was my first year trying to self film it!  I dont use a blind because I hunt public land in the mountains, and a blind seems like it makes things more difficult.  I do use a decoy, hoping that the bird will focus on the decoy instead of me.  But I have not had one within range using my decoy.  Had one within 20 yards this fall, even got him on film, but I didnt have a shot, the camera did.  He went down the hill and I still shot at him, just a bit farther and missed!

I carried the recurve all season last year. Did call in a gobbler to my son's shotgun though. I didn't have any shots, but could have easily limited out with the scattergun.

This year will be the same... recurve only. We are allowed two gobblers in the spring season here in WV. In years past I would take one with the shotgun and then hunt with the recurve. No more of that!

I do use a blind some of the time.

Good luck and be sure to post pics... I will.
