Since I've been shooting my Fedora Excellorator with an SBD string it's been like a tamed beast. The bow has always been quick but never as quiet and dead in the hand.

What can I expect from either a 560 one piece or TD curve? Can they be as quiet as a hybrid shooting a 9 gpp arrow? I will be trying a friend's 52" Stalker next week but want to hear about the 560.

Mike Manassa

Mike, I'm anxious to hear some replies also..I have a 560 one piece ordered..Should have it in a couple of months..Mike

HATCHCHASER

I had a 560 that was dead quiet with a 14 strand d97.  I should have not sold that one.  My xcellerator was too shocky.  The 560 was quieter, faster, and dead in the hand.
It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

I had a 560 one piece. It was a sweet bow and really fast. Nice and quiet too. It was one of the best shooting recurves I ever had and I sold it like a dummy. I have never found another wooden riser bow that shot as well for me. Truely exceptional. It was marked as a pbs bow 2002- bibinga riser and elm limbs...just a pretty bow. Yep- id like that decision as a do over. Fedora has been at it along time and has it figured out.

So far it sounds like I should find one to shoot. I don't know what Fedora does so special with the limbs but they really spit out an arrow.

What is SBD string? thanks- Steve

Mike VanBuren

Silent But Deadly strings from Jean-Pierre in the sponsor's classifieds forum. They are 6 or 8 strand flemish with heavily padded loops.

Thanks Mike, maybe it will tame my excellerator too. Which one of the two strings he sell did you get. thanks- Steve

Terry Green

The 560 One piece Hunter is one of the quietest recurves I've ever shot...it had BowHush on the dacron string...and it was quieter than some longbows!!!

Great shooters too.

Sdpeb1, I think it's the 8 strand. Tell him the poundage of your bow and he will give you either 6 or 8 strand. My bow is 57#.

Terry, that's what I was hoping to hear from someone!

Two Arrows

I agree with Terry. A Fedora Bow, no matter if it is a recurve or one of his longbows, will be quiet, fast, and a great shooter (when set up right of course). I was very impressed with my Xcellerator in quietness (is that a word?) and it's performance.

I have had the same experience with my Fedora extreme. It now has a 6 strand 8125 string that is kept completely still with a single wool silencer.

Wool (poofs) were super quiet on my 560td but they threw my arrows out of tune so I went back to the spiders. I have also tryed string leaches (good but split), bowjax (split) and Hoyt shocks (to loud.

Mike Vanburen;  I had a  560 TD Hunter as my first trad bow.  PM me if you want my thoughts.

Quickblood

I have a 560 td and have owned 2 others.  They are quieter than any other bow I've had.  And as others have stated, they are smooth, shoot fast and hit hard.  I've used spiders in the past with good luck, but have since switched to beaver balls.  Good luck with your Fedora, you'll love it.

ALW

I've shot a couple of 560 one piece recurves and if I were to buy a one piece recurve in the future it would be a 560.  The couple I shot were very quiet, had a grip that was very comfortable, and was the fastest one piece I've shot.  I don't know much about the TD but I don't think you can go wrong with the 560.  I was shooting arrows that were probably 10-11 grains/pound so I don't know if that made the difference.

I shot a friend's Stalker last week and couldn't believe how well it handled for its short length. Three days later, I found a new one for sale from a dealer who was clearing out his bow inventory. Got a great deal on it! I still might pick up a 60" 560 if I see one.

My 560 One Pc. w/B50 was VERY Quiet, & Very Quick, and I don't even like B50 ....
