listen, I know you can kill things without grouping well on paper. I don't want pics of deer and otherthings. This is a test of grouping at fifteen yards. If you can't or won't do it, then that's fine.  This is for those of us that do, or maybe even those of us with nothing to do. Anyway it's groups I'm after. Three shots at fifteen yards. It is fun if you try.

I believe this group shooting thing has turned into somewhat of a monster for some of us...6 arrows in a 5" circle at 20 yds seems to be the accepted rule. Well ok, are you a target/range shooter where grouping counts? Your 1st shot is what counts when hunting, rarely if ever, do you get a 2nd shot.

Practice at unknowned ranges (within your comfort zone) one arrow at a time, at different positions

My groups are all over 4500 acres, some kills, some bad hits, some misses.
Sorry I don't carry a camera very often.
If it is in range...I shoot.

Everyone needs to get off their soap-boxes for a couple minutes...

DVSHUNTER asked a simple question. He is interested in seeing what other guys can do at 15 yards with 3 arrows. This is his practice regimen and if you put 100 shooters next to eachother, and said go practice, we would all do it differently.

This post is absolutely no different than someone asking to see pictures of a Black Widow Longbow, and what people thought of them. Then 15 people jump on and start talking about how Black WIdows aren't the way to go, and post pictures of their NON-BLack Widow Longbows.

So lets show DVSHunter the "black widow longbows" he asked for... (3 shot groups @ 15 yds)) If you don't do that, or don't feel like it right now... There are tons of other topics in the PowWow to post on.

Ok I will play, went out this afternoon when I got home from work stopped around 15 yds (stepped off at 17 when I was done shooting), no warm up, first shot was a smidge low, second dead on, third a little high. You can see a pencil circle which is an 8" pie pan. The red is a 3" circle.

It would be better practice and a better assessment if we shot those 3 arrows , with 1/2 hr. spacing between shoots-- to better assess how well, or often we get that first arrow in.  Just a thought.

I try and shoot every day. Multiple shots are mainly for form and distance judgement as well as accuracy. I want it all to come natural from different positions i.e. hunting situations with brush etc. If I decide Im going to hunt out of my treestand I practice out of the stand and I want my first shot to be in the kill zone. When I can go out every day and put the FIRST arrow in the kill zone I feel ready to hunt. Yardage I will shoot at an amimal is dictated by this. But then again we all miss.

Last week before a trip I shoot 2 arrows per day about 4 hours apart and 15-25 yards.
The rest of the time I shoot one or two and retrieve.
