Ill tell ya another good show, even though its on versus, And that Huntley Ritters.  I like it cause its not the whole "BBD", "sittin in the corner of the food plot" show.  Now he hunts with a compound/rifle but he does alot of DIY on his show.  You get to see all aspects of his hunt.  I remember one show he booked a moose hunt with a "guide" who was a magor pothead, and didnt really have a clue.  He showed that the guide wasnt what he advertised himself as and how he got hosed.  I think thats pretty neat to show it like it is.  Not just missed shots, wounded animals but even something as stupid as not doin your homework on a guide.

I used to watch his show too, that was untill versus got stupid and had a money argument with Direct TV, so now we dont have versus.  That means no more barta either.  Speaking of which have you guys heard about him???  He is paralized from the belly down, something called a spinal infraction!  I feel terrible for Tred!

why bash someone for shooting a compound or gun...embrace all and love the sport instead of disputing with the compound shooters.  they they ones with the shows,,,not us.  they the ones that get on and kill big deer every season consistantly, not most of us.
i hope the new guy does well with the show and more traditionjal on tv is going to help this sport a lot and will be fun to watch.  i also hope brackett finds another show soon, cause i liked what he was doing.  full of entertainment from the start.  good guy as well.  i talked with him on archery talk before...a mostly compound site   :scared:

That's good news to hear, always liked Brooks and he does a great job on camera and is a hoot to be around.  Have done a few events with him and glad to see he is getting back involved as well.
They'll be no quitters till we bag us some critters!

Sorry, but I have to disagree with this statement as it makes it sound like the weapon is the reason!  It is the hunter's hunting skills that consistently kill big deer, not his choice of weapon!  Also, access to hunting property that have big bucks.

I have a friend who consistently kills big bucks.  He does shoot a compound, but that is not the reason.  I would say the primary reason is he is constantly scouting and asking land owners for permission to hunt.  In this aspect, he is like the energizer bunny, he never stops!

I also have friends who shoot traditional and for the same reasons consistently kill big bucks.  Dedication to finding good property, scouting it properly, then knowing how to set up to get those bigguns!

The guys on TV are almost always hunting with outfitters who have property with big bucks!  Most of the time the outfitters have done most of the work for them!

My biggest complaint about these shows (even though I watch them) is that all too often they are about a guy going out and harvesting an animal and that is it, I mean its cool to watch but I would like to have them explain the process.
I am an elk hunter first, I hunt other critters because I like to hunt, but my year is centered around elk season.
I would like to watch (or make) a video that explains the process.
I am referring to the pre-season research and scouting, then actually being in camp and getting equipment prepared for the hunt. Then the actual hunt with explanations about locating, reading sign, calling, setting up, all the aspect involved in the hunt, not just a show about "look what I did", but one about "look what you can do !, here is how"

That is the truth, I have never hunted private property myself(unless you count filming a buddy), and therefore I have to spend twice the time finding deer!  I did manage to find a couple big boys in the last few years, but that was a mixture of tons of work and alot of luck!  :bigsmyl:
